This is my investigation to detect or prevent scam ICO.
The team behind it. What is the product/project all about. Transparency Realistic answers from questions Exposure to events/ Blockchain summit None/poor advisors, it might be a scam.
When the project already has a solid company or partnerships its absolutely not a scam.

This is not always so simple, as it appears to be... Sometimes a scam ICO is doing all the things willingly to show themselves as good one

Almost nothing is sure to detect a scam project, sometimes some projects that we think are scam, it is very profitable, and vice versa, some projects that we think good, it turns out a scam

Hello everyone, Recently scam ICOs are growing rapidly and it has become a severe problem among the investors and bounty participators. Can you guys please tell me how to detect them ?
1) Cheap Website 2) Any problems with Linkenid from CEO 3) Bad photos of the team 4) The idea is described without details 5) The ICO name has the word " Crypto"

Until quite recently you could distinguish between scam and non-scam ICOs looking through their whitepapers and website, but now swindlers have learned to create fake and believable whitepapers and websites. So now to stay safe - always look through the team, if you see that those people took part in other projects, which weren't scams - you can rely on them. And also remember the rule - never invest more money, than you can afford to lose.

You have to be very careful and attentive. You should carefully study the information on the project and a white sheet. You need to read the reviews.

I would not trust a brand new ICOs which appeared like a few days ago. You should better wait for somebody to use it and then see

Unfortunately, even if you have looked through the whitepaper very carefully, it does not mean that ICO is not a scam. What about talking to people in community?

ICO have become so frequent now a days. There are some ways to detect the scams: 1. The management team 2. Their background 3. Project type and details 4. Any famous people connected to the team 5. Go through the whitepaper and point out the ins and out. This may help.
Some website trifles can be good hints for you to stop and think twice. It is like a strange website, for example. And listen to your inner voice

If the team is good, then the project has a future

I always see tokensale on a few days, where now this sales will continue to influence whether ico project will be successful or not. so when sales start slowing down and not reaching softcap at some time before tokensale ends it is surely a scam.

This is a problem that must be solved and this is in everyone's interest. The amount scam has been growing every month and in my opinion the standard for find out easily whether it is a scam or not is the level of promise, when there is an exaggerated amount of promises and resources, we should become suspicious. Another factor is the delivery time of the product, this may be relative but normally the longer the term the greater the chance of a scam.

everyone has their own method of assessing an ICO, whether it is a SCAM or not, but in my experience, the basic thing that affects ICO, SCAM or not is the team, I am always critical and thorough in judging a team, because they are using investors' money

The scam ICO can usually be seen from the non-disclosure of the developer team in answering questions. They will cover up weaknesses or problems. While the ICO who want to open usually want to hold a live AMA (Ask Me Anythings). But this is not a guarantee, because it could also affect other factors.

Yes I agree , most of the fake ICO's that I've known are very confidential they wont disclose the team member they just propose you a project that full of false promises , Whitepaper has lot of grammatical flaws and lot of suspicious things that they will just ignore if you ask them better to stay away on those kind of ICO's.
