You haven't missed the train. It's selling for about 0.0005 per CAT on the exchanges, and at its peak they were worth on average 0.0015. Some orders on Cryptsy even went to 0.004 for a very short period of time.
Catcoin is Hard Forking in less than 12 hours. Nothing that made the coin valuable when it was it its peak is changing, just the difficulty retarget is being shortened so the coin doesn't get screwed over by the Multipools, which caused the coin to lose miners, hashrate, and value. Once the Hard Fork takes place the coin will be free to accurately change the difficulty based on the current hashrate, so it can match the current market price and become profitable again. Once it is profitable again, the value will increase again.
Because the difficulty retarget is shorter, it will be friendly to multipools as well as solo miners and pool miners, as well as much faster transaction times.
