Scammers welcome!
Scammers roam freely after they have ripped people off? Why does the board have moderators?
This is just like alibaba. There are no rules. "Do business with trustworthy people." "Use Escrow" Of course, but when the scammers are admitting to scamming people and continue to chat in the thread and post on the boards like nothing happened, this is ridiculous. Ive seen message boards ban people for saying the word nigger and yet someone can admit to stealing $80 from a board member without consequence.
I realize there is no way of protecting everyone. Can the board ban certain people and use their IP to make it a little more difficult to sign up using a different alias? Sure they will attempt other ways of scamming but jesus make it a bit less easy for them. Set up a BTC anti-scam account members can donate to and hire someone to monitor the marketplace.

I guess the argument they will make is that banning them wont stop them from scamming; they'll just create a new account and start over again with a fresh slate.

If people choose to interact with known scammers, they deserve to be scammed. Who are you to tell them what they should and shouldn't do? Let stupid be stupid.

I understand that. So cant they block that IP address to make it a little less streamlined for them? its like shooting fish in a barrel. If people choose to interact with known scammers, they deserve to be scammed. Who are you to tell them what they should and shouldn't do? Let stupid be stupid.
I guess its how i was raised. If there is a problem, find a solution.

You can say nigger or bitch all you like here as well but it will get you put on some peoples' ignore lists, but yes, as others have said and I will continue to say from now until the end of time use the ignore list. Unlike in real life on the internet you can block somebody's I.P address or username and never have to deal with them again.

I understand that. So cant they block that IP address to make it a little less streamlined for them? its like shooting fish in a barrel. IP blocking someone is almost useless. There are tons of proxies/vpn's and even simpler are dynamic IP's. Negative Trust from "default trust" list will drive most of the business away from the scammer though. Even still, ban the username, along with their IP address and email address. They then have to make a new hotmail/outlook account and register again with a different IP on bitcointalk.org. I can make multiple scam accounts on ebay or troll accounts on youtube but after a while all of the verifying becomes so tedious that its not even worth the effort. We need that here. The goal isnt to eliminate scammers (impossible) its to make it annoyingly difficult to have multiple accounts.

I don't think scammers are that fussed about creating a new email and user account, especially when there's Bitcoins to be earned.

I wonder if one of the escrow guys would ever concider starting a full fledged bitcoin escrow website? You would enter the specific details of each transaction into a webpage. it then gives you a quote and you can then submit it so an email gets sent out to the buyer/seller to which they can commit to the transaction after signing up. Everytime the transaction is updated with shipping or tracking info it is automatically emailed to all 3 members of the transaction. Is there such a thing?
