When I was posting ads combatting BFL's pre-order fraud quite a few people contributed small amounts anomalously.

not sure if I heard of BFL or a fraud?

Yes. On a few occasions...maybe 6 or so.

I've received a few random tips/donations   of  100k satoshi's  on 2 seperate occasions.  Not sure why they were sent or who sent them, but THANK YOU!

I actually do try to send some types and donations to random people in the community every now and then.

I am just adding an address. it sounds cool to just get a tip for posting your opinion Tongue . I saw someone saying that his wallet is full of 1-5 BTC's donations (from 2011) so maybe someday this 0.00001 will equal what a BTC is worth today.

With Monica80 not getting much tips at all with her lovely pictures, I doubt regular users will be receiving any donations at this stage in the game.

Either way, good luck to those who post their address in their signatures!

Yes!

omigosh I did! I don't know who, or why but I got 0.000063BTC and I was so excited I screamed and scared my housemate  Grin

Like, it's worth 27cents in reality but it came to a wallet I only post for donations so it was a little gratis gift from an Anonymous Angel and REALLY made my day!

Seriously, whoever you are, you have no idea what a boost to my courage this gift was. Ive been freaking out since I stopped work, not just about the money, mostly about whether Ive made an idiot decision.

That tiny donation is (for me) a little nudge from the universe encouraging me to hang in there. Thank you Anonymous Angel <3 I love you!!!!

I have received a few satoshis here and there into addresses that were on the blockchain because I'd spent from them at least once. It wasn't just the addy I have in my signature, but others too. I think this is a fairly well known tactic - somebody wants to link up addresses to get an idea of who owns which address. So they 'spam' the addresses each with a very small amount. Then the recipient *might* post on bitcointalk, "OMG who gave me amount x at address y on date z thank you lol!" and now the sender has made the blockchain just a little less anonymous than it had been before. But even if they don't, as soon as they spend some btc, that little donation likely gets swept up with a bunch of other inputs and now we all know that those inputs are (almost certainly) owned by the same person. Anonymity and therefore privacy are eroded either way.

Not that I mind. Thanks for the coins and I'll just make sure to be more careful about which inputs I link up in my transactions. And/or run 'em through a mixer.

Not yet.

I put up a QR donation code onto my live stream last week just for the hell of it. I mean, why not. I have viewers and fans who have been talking about Bitcoin when it started getting media coverage and I've been covering it for almost 2 years now. I might as well put something up.

Imagine. Making money by publishing TX to an address in some public space (like say via Twitter, Facebook, web, billboard) for transactions over a particular threshold. (Watch it turn out that someone already does this.)

Yes, I've actually received two tips (back in 2011) to the address in my signature for a total of 0.01080085 BTC. Likely due to my posts in the BitcoinPool.com threads.
