Any Merit advice?

I've read some posts about merit and such but I'd rather ask the high ranked members directly.  What criteria do you look for awarding merit and what forum sections do you usually hang out in?  Are you looking for just long drawn out rambling posts which I see very often or funny responses.

I gotten really de-motivated after going months without much merit but a lot of posts.  I mostly just see people selling merit, giving out ridiculous amounts of merit  like 50+ for one line posts.

You got 7 already, which is more than a lot of member of your rank have gotten.  You therefore must be doing something right.

Here's a tip:  if you find yourself in a thread where you're not inclined to read any of the replies, then probably nobody else is reading them either, and you won't earn any merit in those.  Bitcoin Discussion, Altcoin Discussion, and Economics are full of them.

And no, post length doesn't equate with quality.  Don't pad your posts, because it's fairly obvious when people do that.

Not a high ranked member but i think meta's and other non spammed parts of the forum give out more merits than the spammed one. I think i have seen a post regarding "where merits are distributed" but i can't seem to relocate it. Hmmm, i'll just edit this if i would see that again.

The majority of my posts are in the altcoin boards so that could be the problem.

The boards I look at are Meta, serious discussion, Ivory Tower, Tech, legal, and I scan the thread titles in Beginners, discussion and political. If I'm feeling masochistic, then I might look at one or two of the others.

The thread title is important. If it's all caps, then I don't read it. If it contains glyphs, then I assume it's spam, and I don't open it. If the first poster is somebody that I've got on ignore, then the thread is greyed out, and I skip it.

I'd avoid threads that are many pages long.They're here so people can spam in them. No one really reads them.
I'd say meta is the place where the most merits are given.There's probably someone who posted stats on the matter.
Anyway 7 merits already is not too bad.

This is useful information. I need to choose an interesting title to a thread, or skip the inferior ones. What are the significant factors in deciding if a post is merit worthy, or if it is passed over. We are here to share information, as well as to collect information - does this make a difference in deciding whether to award merits?

trust me or not, if youre wanna doing some quality post and hoping to receive a merit from someone, make sure you post it on first page of the threads.
If the threads already had more than 5 pages ++, It will give you a very low chance for receiving merit from the others even though you have a good post.

It is almost impossible to get merit in the most popular sections of this forum, such as "Altcoin Discussion" or "Announcements (Altcoins)" I think that the most merited part of the forum is "Meta". Also I can often see how people are getting merit for helping someone with mining of a new coins or staff like that which are narrowly focused.

It is funny maybe that I do advises about merit, while I have non of it, but collecting 150 merit for getting rank up, seems for me unreal, so I decided not to even bother.

Yes, it is the most important thing, it is 10 times harder to earn merit in local threads then in English, I, myself, as a local crap poster, know the drill.

Whoever said it was correct to a certain extent, and it is true of the quest for merits. If your posting habits are largely repetitive, and after 100+ posts, you still haven't received any merit, then reflect on that quotation. It really is time to learn and research so that you can change the direction of your posting.

I don't think it's very difficult however IT IS difficult for members who are not providing any value but running after spamming on the whole forum.

I believe I can become a Legendary member some day. On my way I will earn enough merits no doubt. I have started from 0 merits and it's not only me. There are a lot of members who are doing very well. They are earning legit merits because of their efforts. It's the mind set, learning, an experience of how to serve and care for a community.

I'm not much higher Rank member from you, but I noticed that 50+ merit can get a post with really necessary information to the forum users with pictures and graphics, in a short word, big work should be done to deserve so much merits and it should be seen.

This is the problem with giving advice about making meritable posts. Any post with pictures and graphics would prompt me to put the poster on ignore, rather than award merits. This assumes that it isn't a stats or similar thread of course.

Well, there is no specific criteria since everyone above member rank can distribute merits as long as they have some.
People may have different perceptions and ideology but as long as it brings a valuable point and a person with merits find it very helpful for themselves, it can be merited.
There are also merit sources and as we all are concerned we should know how to have and provide good quality post. We should understand that they have their own criteria.

I could really tell the struggle of getting merits and I just thought that I should not be impatient about it. I just probably stay and make it just another ordinary day and bring some helpful advice and just appreciate people giving me merits.

The majority of my posts are in the altcoin boards so that could be the problem.

Actually, the majority, excluding the aggregate Local Boards, go to the Alternate Cryptocurrencies Section (24,02%), followed by Economy (16,47%).

In terms of subsections, the leader is Ann Altcoins (13,52%), followed by Russian (Local) 12,47%, and then Meta (9,01%).

Regardless of the data, there is no unique tailored suit to getting sMerits. The more versed you are in the content being treated in the section, the more chances you’ll have, but novelty, depth of knowledge, writing style, tone, etc. all may be appealing to some and not so to others.
