First you should know about ERC721, these are non-fungible tokens meaning non of the tokens will be inter-changeable as they all will have different values. Collectibles are rare things meaning either their quantity is either really small or they are unique. As each and every token of an ERC721 contract is unique, thus ER721 and virtual collectibles go hand in hand.
