Does it matter if say you like 2 pools and one is 2000 miles away and the other is 10, Is there any adv. to mining the one closer.

Maybe if you have over 200ms, but yes it's important.

High latency might cause some stale shares for you, but if you're not having any issues with the 2000 miles away pool, there's no reason not to use it.
