Here's the deal. I wanted to take part on this forum for awhile so I am trying out this one shot game.

which is the anonymous donation address for Plant-It 2020 on http://www.bitcoin-charity.com/charities/

mention here on the thread that you donated and the address you donated from. At some random time Tomorrow I will declare the game over, check that the last address listed actually sent a donation to that address, and send .01 BTC to address the winner sent from.(to ensure people aren't just taking credit for random donations).

Let's make this experiment a successfull one!

What would be an easy way for someone to find this out?  Searching BlockExplorer for the transaction won't work, as someone could watch the receiving address for a transaction to appear and claim to be the sender in a post here.

They could just send another 0.0000001BTC from the same address to prove ownership if they win.

I like the idea of getting people to donate to a charity, but it's not really a good gambling type thing..... you just arbitrarily deciding when to end it, and also having people "claim" donations is not a good way to run something.

Does the current client allow for this level of precision to happen?  Do miners accept such transactions?  I honestly haven't been following the latest releases, so this is a legitimate question.

the current client does not allow this level of precision to happen. Bitcoins are sent from multiple addresses.

My mistake, it wasn't something I had ever tried and just assumed it'd work.

That's why I stated that I would make the payment to the same address that gave the donation to keep people from claiming donations that weren't theirs.

I thought having people donate directly to the charity account would give this more of an air of authority. It may be a moot point though since last look today nobody actually followed through.

allright, looks like I'm going to have to call this one a failure with a grand total of 0 people participating. Will go over all the suggestions later and try to come up with something better next time.

Had one guy donate 0.0005, so whoever that was technically just won a hefty profit

Thanks for pointing out the typo, it was supposed to be .01 but is moot since no one did it.
