I could have solo a few hundred blocks also 2 days ago, and would be sitting on nearly 80M batcoin right now. But I don't think a crypto can have value if a single person has 25% of it all when it forked like that (except for the premine).
So if there's anybody currently owning more than 50% of the total hashrate, thinkg about it twice : you're killing the coin trustworthiness and so its value.

30 mins mining solo and got almost 3m BAT

Really?

Even if you had the hashrate and the luck to get every single block that was found in those 30 minutes, you'd still only have 1.2 million BAT......

You can mine 1.5M in 20mn easily if you have a big hashrate and the network hashrate is low.
ex :
- diff retargets at block 5000 to 0.2 (~9.54MH/s on average for the last 40 blocks)
- you bring 19MH/s
- block time average is then 30s for the next 40 blocks
- you get 2/3 of the 40*2,400,000 BATs = 1,600,000 BAT in 20 mn
- once the diff retargets, you switch coin and wait for the next diff retarget
- the next 40 blocks will be mined in no less than 3 hours instead of 1, users get screwed.

Yes this is totally unfair, like what the multipools do. That's why a low diff coin is easily killable.

There's what is possible if you don't retarget every block.
But there is also what is observed.
Which is that the blocktime remained 90+ seconds, the network hashrate didn't suddenly jump to two or three times what it was ( to account for a miner with incredible luck and high hashrate ). And the estimated retarget difficulty didn't spike.
Difficulty remained around 1.2, and network hashrate remained around 50-60Mh/s
He would've had to bring like 180 Mh/s  on his own....and the observed blocktime still would've had to change...

He may have been extremely lucky ! Or most probably, he mined 3m in 30mn, but not 3M. m = x1000 :x

That is true, he is using the small m. That I can believe.
Although I'm not sure how he would've hit 5% of a block while solo mining Smiley

Actually that's exactly what happend.... At the time as i started mining(on our pool) the diff was 60k(de difficulty shown at your miner) then it fell to 39k and now its 89k.... and after the retarget it will drop again...

with the diff going up and the net hash rate getting bigger, you may want to stick with a pool.
