Hi,

I am completely new to Bitcoin. After doing some research I was trying on setup a GUIMiner. I am using slush's pool. But when I start mining, the summary page shows 'Connection Problems' Looking at the logs I could find like below:

2014-01-05 16:56:20: Listener for "Test" started
2014-01-05 16:56:46: Listener for "Test": WARNING: ADL missing (no AMD platform?), temperature control is disabled

2014-01-05 16:56:47: Listener for "Test": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 05/01/2014 16:56:47, diverted to stratum on stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333
2014-01-05 16:56:48: Listener for "Test": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 05/01/2014 16:56:48, Setting new difficulty: 3
2014-01-05 16:56:54: Listener for "Test" shutting down

Please could someone help me to fix this issue.

Many thanks,
Tony

PS: Sorry for the double posting, I originally raised this question in Newbies section (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399724.0), but didn't get a reply. I thought better to ask here which seems to be the correct board.

Use cgminer or bfgminer.
What kind of mining gear you have?

Well that is output from guiminer console, but it is only detecting a CPU anyways.  What he said what are you trying to use to mine on slush pool?

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I am trying to use my CPU for mining. Well I am sure GPU mining is much faster than CPU, but I would like to test this with CPU first. I am not that sure about mining. On GUIMiner I selected 'New OpenCL miner' -> Slush pool (entered username and password) -> Intel Core i3 CPU and started mining. But it shows some connection problems. Please could you advise on how to perform a GUIMining using CPU.

Many thanks.

You can't mine with CPU.
You can't mine BTC with GPU.
Forget about it.

so, you need some nice ATI Radeon gpu to mine altcoins, like hd7950/7970/7990 or some nice ASIC miner to mine BTC. this is nice one with nice hashrate and nice price https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=379819.0

also if you can't afford it don't even think about buying some 50gh or smaller miner because everything under 200GH is worthless right now.
