It was Zynga not Overstock that pushed it over $1000, and it's the fickle people that push the price up.

Did overstock add BTC's already? because the last I saw was a topic regarding them considering adding it later. The recent jump was due to zynga adding it.

I don't think it was just either of those... There was also speculation that netflix.com may be starting to accept bitcoin. Also there is talk of that Chinese exchange that is doing over 60% of the world's volume. Since China clamped down on some of their laws, this guy is supposedly backing the whole thing with his personal bank account...

I could see them backing out and just riding the free publicity they got.

Overstock backing out wouldn't really surprise me, but it would be silly of them to do. Lose credibility with an entire network of potential customers? Nah, they will just wait a year or two to make sure they can't lose money on it.

It doesn't always rise; sometimes it crashes. If you bought Bitcoins early then maybe it's a good idea to get some physical goods for next to nothing.

Will Overstock accept Bitcoin for all purchases, or only low-value ones? That's a big difference...

Overstock.com will most likely accept Bitcoin for all products. It doesn't make sense to accept Bitcoin for low price items only.

I hope we see more and more retailers start accepting bitcoin in 2014 If we can see one or 2 of the altcoins take off I think it will really cement cryptocurrency's in the mainstream. No more centralisation of money and hopefully a few of us make some money

Told you so, OverStock.com accepting Bitcoin pushed price of Bitcoin over $1000
Not quite. It's the day after they started accepting it and now the price is $836.03.
