Going to purchase a used 5770, any way to test prior?

Whats the easiest way to make sure a card isn't bunk before handing over the money?

I emailed the guy (I'm picking up in person), so I figure we could meet at a Mcdonalds and take my computer, throw the card in there, and stress test it for ~5 minutes.

Is there an easier way that I'm missing?

edit: I currently have a 5770 installed, so I'm guessing the drivers should match up even if its a 'new' card.

no easier way to know other than stress testing it. btw, if you're meeting at mcdonalds, how are you bringing your computer to test it? are you also bringing a UPS to provide mobile power?

if the 5770 is exactly the same brand and model, then you won't have to install drivers. otherwise, your motherboard will recognize it as a different GPU and try to reinstall the drivers.

Most fast food places I know of have power outlets in the public area, but i suppose this is something I should check.

Now I know its the same manufacturer (XFX), but mines a reference and i'm pretty sure this one is not.

The story is it went out on him, he RMA'd it, in the mean time he upgraded to a newer one, and is now selling the one they sent back.  So if all goes well, I'll be getting a brand new 5770 for $50.

if it's legit, $50 is one hell of a deal. but people on craigslist are shady as hell. one time i sold tickets, and got fake $100 bills, and didn't realize it until i deposit it at the bank  . then a few weeks ago, i tried to buy a 5870, and the bitch tried to hustle me and brought out a 5770 instead. he pealed the sticker that marked which kind of card it was, and i told him why he peeled it off. he told me it was starting to rip, so he just peeled the whole thing off. i told him it was also too short to be a 5870, and only had 1 power connector, all 5870s have 2 6-pin power connectors. i obviously didn't buy it.

it's a good deal, but just be wary of the legitimacy of people meeting in local places like this. i'm not sure how u can just bum electricity off mcdonalds though.

Okay thanks for the heads up.  I guess I should study my own 5770 a bit just to make sure the guys legit. *Crosses fingers*

Edit: I'm pretty sure xfx has double lifetime warranties, so even if it is bunk I still may be able to make work out.
