Do I understand this correctly, you spent 200$ of your own money to cover this?

Maybe you should use this opportunity and build upon it. I'd be down for running a non profit through this site that helps out animal rescues all over the world, drumming up donations in BTC.

Think about it, maybe we can get your vet to be the first to sign up, we can get them linked with bitpay, and maybe they can even open up a "free check up day" for those who cant afford the vet due to the btc we get donated, just rambling but I think its worth discussing.

Bob, weird that you brought that up because when i was explaining what you guys were doing for Richy and that you were complete strangers...The lady at the vets office said that was Amazing! and she mentioned that she had another patient with a torn ACu or something and they were having a hard time paying for it.    I would ABSOLUTELY love to be a part of that idea Bob and i will talk to the vets office and see if they wil let me use their name as a reference to the purpose/cause.   But woulndt we have to register with the government or something for non profit status?

That would be something i'd also like to take part in, and dont mind handling the paper work. I have a CPA who currently handles all my business stuff and i'm sure having her do this to wouldn't be an issue at all.

I think there are a bunch of ways to do this, firstly though, I think we may need to take the vet out of the equation. Lets be honest here, the vet is in it for the money, so they'll keep finding patients for us.

I think we may need to go the route of making a site where people can post about their financial situation and their pet, from there we can decide whos in need more, and then we can arrange to get their vet paid just like we did with you.

Someone would need to register a non profit if we were to do this on the up and up, for the beginning... we can go without the actual non profit, but once it grows, and I think it would then we would have to take the steps needed to be able to help more people and in a faster turnaround.

Which would include the non profit, the bank accounts, an accountant, employees, website builders, rescue agency's ect... the first step is a site where people can post about their hardship regarding the beloved pet in question. (we can use this one to start)

We would need to get on reddit, and an other social network that may help drum up donations, we also would need an escrow agent on here, Maidak, you can do this I believe.

What's our thoughts?

EDIT: I also think we should find a writer, its clear as day to me that otrkid70 and myself are nto the writing type..

So great!  We adopted an Italian Greyhound mix from a shelter last year.  They did not tell us that the mix was a pit-bull though. Wink  My husband likes to joke that our dog can run 50 miles an hour before he bites your leg. He is pretty sweet, very warm at night, and a great guard dog.  A little too much so because he really does not like my father-in-law too much.  Of course my father-in-law is the epitome of a "grumpy old man" so I guess I can't blame him too much.

Hopefully Richy's surgery goes well.  Vet bills are so expensive and I am glad there were some kind hearts on here willing to help out!
