I'm definitely interested in Coinbase, yet they have a full 30 day wait period before large purchases.

Any popular others that accept wires or bank account purchases? I'm in the US.

(mt.gox no thanks, and btc-e doesn't accept US wires)

I'd always go for cash in person - wouldn't trust any exchange with large amounts of cash. Smiley

For large amounts what type of individual person would do such a deal with such large numbers?

What type of individual? I would have to say someone who had a lot of BTC that they wanted to sell  Wink

Bitstamp, CampBX, Vault of Satoshi, QuadrigaCX, Bitfinex are companies which have been able to process my US wires very quickly and efficiently with minimum hassle.

A friend of mine, Margaux, is the best broker for large transactions I know of.  (disclosure: she is a good friend but I have no business interest in her company)
