The last days I’ve done some research to find out, how you can write quality posts to get Merit – even as a Newbie. I’m a Newbie too and I saw some Newbies very disappointed because they haven’t any merit yet, even their activity would be enough to be a full member. My advice: don't be discouraged! The new Merit system might be very disappointing for new Members but I think it is necessary to get this forum rid from cheaters and improve the posting-quality. The Merit system is still at the beginning and after all I read about it, it is working and we have still the possibility to improve it by slight changes, like there is a very low amount of sMerit in circulation. So let’s have a try and do some good posts.
Maybe the following points can be helpful for you: * The first time if you signed up it is also an option to read only and if you have more experience you can write your first comments. * Before you post something, read the last comments. Double posts are very annoying. It takes some time to read the comments before, but you’ll see it is necessary to avoid double posts. And if you read all the comments you will recognize how many annoying double posts there are sometimes. * Don’t try to write something if your only intention is to write something, this will end up in spamming and is very annoying to read. Only leave a post if you have something to say. Sometimes it is better to write nothing instead of writing shitposts. * Be polite when you are writing – pointless accusations are not welcome here. We all want serious discussions which are worthwile for this forum. Rude comments and trolling will dishonor itself. * Read the rules before posting, so you can avoid trouble and missunderstandings. * Maybe it’s better to avoid posts the first time, which requires specialized knowledge in crypto space. Try to focus on general things you are sure you know about. It makes no sense to write comments if you are not experienced in that topic. I would recommend to start at first with the basics and very important: try to educate yourself by reading different sources and get to know how crypto works. Even a good move could be if you report spammers, scammers and merit-traders; they have made the Merit system necessary. * There is no need, that good posts are long. Sometimes short but meaningful posts are better than long stories. * Improve your English and your writing quality. A post full of grammar and spelling mistakes will get less Merit, even if it’s a good one. TMAN has done a very helpful post here about how you can improve your English: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3182178.0* Please proofread your post before submitting or even proofread it after submitting and edit the mistakes, if you find some. By doing so, you can erase lots of avoidable mistakes. * The most important rule is to help other forum members – this is, why this forum exists. You can ask questions and get help, if you have issues. You can inform yourself about different topics. Users are sharing their experiences they have made to protect others from their mistakes or something useful they found out. If you are polite and helpful your posts will be merited by time. Although I am a Newbie, I hope it will help you a little bit. I have read a lot and noticed good things but also annoying shitposts. This advice is just my point of view to write essential quality posts. If you have something to add I would be pleased if you share it.
Here are some points added from the discussion below: * Try to create unique posts. Some topics that have not been discussed yet. * If you quote another person please avoid mega-quotes. If you quote the whole original post with all re-quotes, your post could be very long. To replace mega-qoutes and avoid over-qouting you can write instead of them ~ or snipRegarding this issue you can find a tutorial here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3749076

Why do I have a feeling that you’re one of those old members with no merit(s) but with so many activities and needs to create a new account to start things over again for merits? Anyway, I might be wrong, my friend. Members are looking for new topics to discuss and your topic is just one of those we read every day in this forum. Uniqueness is the new trend for merit system not the same old topic(s). Good effort though.

You might be right at some extent! Most of forum users tend to have prejudice with old accounts which can not earn any merit several months after the launch of merit system. Of course, such unable-to-earn-merit accounts are deserved to get bad feelings from higher ranked members because about 4 months after launch day of merit system, they have shown that they are lacked of capability to compose high quality, constructive threads to earn merits from others in the forum. Why do I have a feeling that you’re one of those old members with no merit(s) but with so many activities and needs to create a new account to start things over again for merits? Anyway, I might be wrong, my friend.
However, I don't recommend them to start with new account, instead of changing their attitudes first. This one is more important because they won't go further with new account if they will keep their current mindset, keep posting shitshows in the forum.

I also want to add this style of posting, lots of members here are quoting the whole OP which leads to a more dirty forum, I feel like they are doing it because they want their post to be look like a well created, constructive post. If we can avoid this, we can easily see whose members are worth giving merit.

Because it looks like that, although I give him the benefit of doubt. But I think after so many posts, about how to get merit either the best one or a good summary of them should be stickied, and if someone has somthing to add, it shoul be added in a comment, and then if it really is a useful contribution it shoul be added edited in the first post. Otherwise a year from now we will still be getting posts like this hoping to get merit.

I feel like they are doing it because they want their post to be look like a well created, constructive post.
If that's what they are thinking, then their ignorance is really on a whole new level. They should learn using "~snip~" or just quote the sentences that they want to emphasize in their reply. No need for quoting the whole OP again. To be honest with you I thought the author of this topic got huge merit but I feel disappointed seeing you op no merit yet. Then how could you be an effective advisor if you yourself didn't have any merit. Fuck!
Although the OP will be helpful for newbies, there are already a lot of topics with the same content in the forum and I'm sure that right now, most of the members know how to earn merit for themselves, they are just lazy to do so.

* Improve your English and your writing quality. A post full of grammar and spelling mistakes will get less Merit, even if it’s a good one.
It actually does look like you are paying a lot of attention to your capitalization and punctuation, trying hard, but a bit overboard with the commas.. You have some weird wording yet too like.. "These advices are" should be "This advice is" or "These pieces of advice are" as I don't think their is such a thing as "advices".. "posts. And if you" You should almost never start a sentence with and or but. They go after commas for the most part.. "posts. If you" starting a new sentence this way is more proper.. First thank you for your comment. But no, I'm not an old member with no Merits, I only tried to sum up some helfpul points. It is true there are lots of posts about Merit but I think I've brought something new here we hadn't before. Time will tell if this post is helpful or not. You seems to be one of the luckiest members here if we have a look at your Merits. So thank your for your advice to focus on unique posts. I wish you good luck, too. Thanks, noted. I'll collect and add it later. Thank you very much for this constructive-minded post! If you don't think my points are useful, you can make your own list. No problem. Because it looks like that, although I give him the benefit of doubt. Please avoid these accusations of Merit trading if you have no proof. This ist only speculation and a hard accusation.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm not about to take advice on how to earn merit from someone with no merit. Bear in mind that OP had none until his post here got 2 merits from eddie13. Aside from that, OP is fairly poorly-written, with grammar and spelling that are sub-par AND most of what's written won't help anyone earn merits at all. Also, OP, all of this has been said many times before. It's obvious you're trawling for merit here like you're trying to pick up a girl at a bar with your (fake) gold chains and leisure suit, trying to impress her with slick talk in a language you're not entirely comfortable with. Your post is bloated mess, actually. So take that to heart and have fun with the merit you earned here. People with no merit making threads about how to earn merit is the new "people with no merit telling others with no merit that the merit system is good" disguise for merit begging.
That's what I'm talking about. I probably should've read your post before I made mine, but I wanted to blast OP as fast as I could. lol And yes, maybe my article about Merit is a little bit late here.
It's not a little bit late, it's way too late. It's like trying to now revive George Washington's corpse with shock paddles.
