I know that these consoles have some pretty decent gfx hardware. Has anyone ever tried to reuse some of their parts for mining purposes?

I doubt it.  the new consoles are the equivalent of like the 7770 and 7830 or close to that.  The older ones are going to be a lot worse.

Sell console, buy miners. That's the standard gaming console mining method.

Even sell console buy cheap PC then mine is better than actually mining on a console.
