Perhaps this has already been beaten to death, but I will post none the less.
With recent drops in USD/BTC prices and being an avid Bitcoin supporter/Miner/investor, I am tired of seeing other cryptocurrencies getting a free ride on the busiest Bitcoin forum on the planet.
Why are the founders/Mods/owners of this forum allowing other currencies to get fame in the spotlight, all the while, gaining ground on BTC ? They should all have their asses booted out of here, to their own forums. Why spread decention or doubt here ?
This forum needs to shake it's collective head.
YMMV.
I'll just head over to the GM forum to see how the Toyota sub forum is doing, in light of it being common practice.....ISN'T IT ?
BITCOINTALK.org = BITCOIN TALK ......NOT thisCOIN, thatCOIN, thisweeksCOIN, nextweeksCOIN.

Meh, the forum isn't about Politics either, but it makes sense to have a place to talk about it if people want.
Though I guess a line should be drawn somewhere. We don't need a Pokemon subforum.

I agree 100%! I wanted to start a thread bitching about the otherCoins as well, I'm glad you did and there are others who feel the same. We hardly have a robust economy here and in-light of recent thefts & hacks confidence in bitcoin has taken a huge hit. The LAST thing we need is some parasiteCoin enjoying a free ride off of what the bitcoin community has collectively built here. I'm not 100% sure of this (as I haven't downloaded the client) but apparently I0coin already has wallet encryption. WTF?? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for competition and what not, but we don't need to be coddling the competition, we need to compete! Kick out all the ripoffCoins from this forum!

squatters usually go for .com's But i agree. Alt chains have their own forums, so they should stick to them and leave bitcointalk.org

Nothing wrong with a free market, competition can help. Like someone said, one of them has wallet encryption already, perhaps this will spur people to include this in BTC as well.

1. All of them has wallet encryption 2. This feature COMES FROM BITCOIN FFS!! Is releasing a not enough tested tool intelligent? Let's see it

Nothing wrong with a free market, competition can help. You are right...but let them create THEIR OWN MARKET and quit riding the coattails of Bitcoin. Like someone said, one of them has wallet encryption already.....
Are you refering to SC ? If so, then you obviously haven't tried the Window's Client as it is about as stable as I recall my mother being, when I was younger, for 7 out of every 30 days before the BIG CHANGE.....lol Either way one looks at it, THEY DON'T BELONG HERE. Ford doesn't support, or do marketing for Chevy.....and on the flipside, Pepsi doesn't market PEPSI-FREE against DIET-PEPSI.

Of course we belong here, Solidcoin is based around Bitcoin, that's like saying you can't go to a Silver board and post about Gold! Should all topics which are not DIRECTLY RELATED TO BITCOIN AND ONLY BITCOIN be deleted? Have fun on your ghost board. It's all just one market you muppet. Plenty of people myself included invest in Bitcoin and Solidcoin. Bitcoin and Solidcoins are not companies competing with each other, they are simply two open source projects which exist in the world. Comparing them to Ford and Chevy is just downright retarded, you can use them both together and appreciate them both for what they are. In fact right now Solidcoin does not even work without Bitcoin as the only way to buy in and out of it is through Bitcoin... Personally I think the Solidcoin client is better than the Bitcoin client, the Windows version that is I've not had a chance to look at the other versions. Solidcoin also has developers actively working on it and adding new features, as opposed to Bitcoin which appears to have stagnated. The underlying blockchain code is better as well. Solidcoin only takes approx 10 minutes to confirm a transaction beyond reasonable doubt instead of 1-2 hours on Bitcoin. For investors, I think Solidcoin has the brightest future, as it does not have 85% of the coins hoarded by early miners, scammers and thieves just waiting to dump as soon as the price goes up. Any price increases in Solidcoin are going to be much more sustained.

No, I don't think they should be kicked out. The Alternatives subforum is an excellent lesson and record for the future. The rise and fall...
It should be kept there, so when the next smart chap comes up with their SmartChapCoin, at least they will have some material to go through before flooding the network with their new coins. It will be easier to say "Remember what happened to *coin?" and point to a thread, instead of doing the same discussions all over again.
And BTW, Ten98, you might want to reconsider...
