Bitcoin has lost almost 15% of its value since two weeks ago. At the peak around Christmas holidays, it was trading at over $19,000. Bitcoin investors have been predicting that meteoritic rises will commence any day now. But the price has been hovering in the $8,000-$9,000 range with surprisingly low volumes. One Good Post: why is Bitcoin price stagnant? What is happening in the Bitcoin world? What is the near-term price forecast for Bitcoin?

This week, The New York Fed president says bitcoin 'doesn't pass the basic test' for a currency. So while I do think the price of bitcoin could climb slowly, I would expect it to be a very bumpy ride.
Expect blips, dips, mini-crashes, and shocking price rises along the way. All which will shock many people, and ensure you see many investors getting extremely emotional and become confused not knowing what to do next.

Bitcoin rallied from 5400$ to 19,600$ in just a month, what do you expect that it will still continue to grow to that point on? Expecting something unrealistic in really not a traders way and the price correction we are seeing now is a normal phase to a traded asset online. Obviously when Bitcoin reached at its all time high almost everybody took profit and only some have manage to experience losses. Bitcoin more than doubling its value in just a month made this downtrend long as it maybe is making or waiting for a bigger move.

Did everyone forgot about MT GOX? They still have 162 000 btc to sell. They was obey to wait till september till court will decide whats with them. But few weeks ago they moves 16 000 btc from their wallets. Few days ago they moved another 8000. Why they moved it to exchange if they had to w8 till court will decide whats with them? Ivestors are scared that other 138k will be moved and sold on exchanges. Mayby thats pushing price down? I think price wont be pushed to much north beafore MTGOX case will be closed. Bitcoin rallied from 5400$ to 19,600$ in just a month, what do you expect that it will still continue to grow to that point on? I agree with you. That is also holding bitcoin at this moment. Correction still looks normal after december pump.

We also put into the scene the dumping of bitcoin by Mt Gox and the negative accusations by a business giant if we sum it up it means that the dump has occurred and followed by a short panic selling. You are correct my friend that the road ahead of bitcoin is bumpy since there are many obstacles and resistance before we can overcome and breach 10k$.

Nobody can't say what exactly is going on, there are only suggestions. There are experts who already said sorry for their optimistic prognosis for crypto currency for April-may. Promised bull run didn't happen still. Well, at least the price is not falling, we are here, somewhere between 8000-9000$ and I count it good enough for bitcoin.

Bitcoin has lost almost 15% of its value since two weeks ago.
bitcoin is volatile and going up 15% or dropping down 15% is what we call "volatility". At the peak around Christmas holidays, it was trading at over $19,000.
yes and it is also up from last year's $1000 so it is already 8-9 times higher in only one year! Bitcoin investors have been predicting that meteoritic rises will commence any day now. But the price has been hovering in the $8,000-$9,000 range with surprisingly low volumes.
speculations these days are all over the place from what i am seeing which i believe proves that people are not sure about what will happen, although i have to admit they mostly tend to be positive and predict a rise. regarding volumes i have to say they are surprisingly high as a matter of fact. i don't know where you looked but they are high on all exchanges which is why i consider this an accumulation phase.

There is nothing wrong with bitcoin we are just taking it for granted that whenever the price goes down we are doing panic but when the price goes up all of us celebrates and almost cashing out, that is why it is so important for us to at least stay calm all the time and let us just continue to support bitcoin all the time.

We have quite a few factors that are dragging the price down. The idiot trustee that are managing the recovered bitcoins from the MtGox fiasco is waiting for the price to increase and then he dumps coins. There was 162106 BTC in total and he started dumping and now there are still about 137891 BTC left. So every time when the price recovers, this idiot dumps more coins onto the exchanges. {adding coins on the supply side} One other big factor was the banning of Crypto currency advertisements on some of the biggest social media platforms like for instance Facebook & Twitter etc. So we have a steep hill to climb to get to the top again and the odds is being stacked up against us at a very fast pace.

In every market price when investing there must be a price down or price rise so I would not panic if the bitcoin price drops because I believe the bitcoin price will increase again. That is where life must have ups and downs so I do not doubt either in the business or the determination of up and down prices.

Why are you getting so panicky. Do you expect the price to keep on going up forever? And do you expect the price to recover so fast after the huge rally we had last year. Expect few more months of correction before we reach any where near ATH again. In fact I would say don't expect us to reach near ATH this year at all.

Obviously from all the sides it does feel like bitcoin is in good state right now and there is nothing wrong with it as such. We are already trading bitcoin at very high prices and some do call it overpriced as it surged almost 10 times the January 2017's price. So the question is why to worry about it anyway. If we had such peaks back then, it means we will have it again and this time it could be better than the previous spike. Why not think that current 8-9K USD are the starting point this year and if it goes 10 times high then I couldn't imagine how rich we can be in such short period of time.

I agree with your opinion, and I will wait until the price is stable because I am sure that bitcoin price is increasing and profit will wait for us. Until now I hope that what I want comes true for me with my family to be happily ever after.

Why are you getting so panicky? Do you assume the charge to maintain on going up forever? And do you anticipate the charge to recover so rapidly after the big rally we had final yr. Expect few greater months of correction before we reach any in which near ATH again. In fact, I could say do not count on us to attain close to ATH this year at all.

This volatility is normal and will last for a long time. While there are whales with large quantities of Bitcoin this will still be seen, only with the passage of the years and maturing of the market is that we can have less oscillations.

While this question has come up time and time again, I don't think there is much to say about the price showing that their are problems. The price is something which may not always react to the sentiment of the community itself nor to the fact that we could be having some amazing strides (such as LN)
There are some things that are wrong, such as large scale network congestion and high fees when the network is unable to handle the load it's taking on. Or the fact that we're unable to reach a consensus on HOW to fix these problems.
There are issues, but none are telling by the price.
