Monero has been a popular cryptocurrency in Japan but gathered a lot of criticism from the authorities for its potential use by criminals and increasingly used by drive-by miners. As a result, FSA worked on its regulatory measures that included a ban on tokens that offers a high level of anonymity and privacy.

YEs I'm also very curious what will be the future for anonymous currencies. I'm sure the regulation is coming for bitcoin and other regular alts, but it will be very specific case for authorities to handle anon currencies

The FSA may not have advised to CoinCheck to remove Augur, but CoinCheck appears to be taking all precautions to distance itself from regulatory worries in the future.

Coincheck announced that they would begin to review and investigate their internal network to help further combat the bad actors who use their exchange.
