So, I'm about to have to leave home for a pretty long time. Roughly 8 months. Part of that time will be on the same continent as my rig. For the majority, I will be away from continent and unable to have any control over my rig as I will be on a secured internet, websites like this will be flagged. My wife has agreed to ensure that the rig is running and no more. WTF should I mine for 8 months straight? Any insight is appreciated.

Don't mine one thing, use one of the automatic switching sites that chooses the most profitable coin of the moment. Just make sure you have autopayout on at the pool, and autosell on at cryptsy.

Doing that won't work if they add a new coin. Same for hashco.ws, if they add a new coin you have to manually enable payout in BTC. That's why I said middlecoin, they always payout in BTC, no matter which coin, or how recently added. You never need to change anything manually.

Oh, yeah. Unapproved software installation of any kind is forbidden. All access is monitored 24/7. Its a .mil network.

Wow, Middlecoin is really interesting. I think I am going to stop mining different things, and move to this pool
Thanks for the info!

Do your research thoroughly first. Check out all of the options like alternatepool.com poolwarz.com hashco.in hashco.ws etc before settling on middlecoin.

wow middlecoin is a really interesting concept. I got a server with a intel E5-2650 not a great GPU so I'd like to CPU mine.

Now I was wondering when middlecoin determines which coin is the most profitable atm and switches to that would my CPU only mining cause a problem? For example it determines 'coin x' is the most profitable but that is not the case with cpu only? Or is it like when it's determined a coin is most profitable it is not relevant if you either CPU or GPU mine?

Middlecoin is scrypt only, and mining a scrypt coin with a cpu is generally not profitable unless you have free power. For the relative profitability it doesn't matter whether youvhave a gpu or cpu.
