Hey all,
At the advise of my buddy from my office (who got started on bitcoin from his brother in law, who i come to find out is "Bitcoin Jesus,"   I have started using blockchain.info as a wallet service for a portion of my BTC holdings, so that I don't have all of my BTC in one spot (for obvious reasons).   I am not super tech savvy, so I was also looking at the easiest way to do things, because computer commands and scripts are like a foreign language to me.

So I sent a decent amount of the BTC that I hold to blockchain.info.   I use dropbox as my normal backup spot (along with some external drives).  I was browsing through the security settings of blockchain.info, and I noticed that they allow a secondary password that requires the password to either withdraw, or send BTC out of the blockchain.info wallet.   Sounded good to me, so I tried it.   After doing that, dropbox backups no longer work properly.   Every time I try to backup to dropbox, it says "unauthorized."

I thought that maybe something got corrupted, or that I was the one off person that may have had an unexpected problem, so I emailed support to see if this is a known issue, or if it was just me.   They have not let me know that they are aware of any issue with secondary passwords and dropbox (FYI).    Just to check things out, I disabled the secondary password, and immediately the dropbox backups started working properly right away.

I thought this would be good info to share...  If you use dropbox as a backup spot for your wallet, setting a secondary password for withdraws will mess up the ability to properly automatically backup your wallet via dropbox.

I would still like to have both functions, so can anyone show me otherwise?  Happy Belated New Year!!

has anyone else experienced this, or am I the only one?  I am still trying to figure out the problem.   Support at blockchain.info seems to think it is in my dropbox app permissions.   I know it isn't that, because as soon as I disable the secondary password, I can immediately backup to dropbox again.   Once I enable secondary password again...dropbox no go.  Any ideas?

Why would you use dropbox to stole crypto? Seems risky to me. I would not store them online anywhere except during transactions. An external harddrive is much safer. I'm ordering a second one as a backup soon.

I do plan on switching everything offline. Its like a double edge sword for me because i have such bad luck with failing externals
