Hi everyone,
I'm glad to be now part of this great community and start my adventure in the charming e-currency scene, whose first day for me wasn't unfortunately as I hoped. Yesterday I bought $150 worth of BTC via Paypal from the user Ludacrisx after seeing his thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=406805.0 but he didn't send me anything. The scammer wanted to "sell" $600 worth of BTC but luckily I decided to try him with a quarter of the full transaction.

Since new members can't post, send pms, etc, but I still wanted to buy some BTC, I contacted that guy because he published his Skype (of course none of the posts about his negative reputation you can read now in that thread were present). In fact, I had previously contacted an established member who had their email in their profile, but as I expected, they didn't reply since I'm a forum newbie.

His details:

Name: Alvaro Barboza
Country: Costa Rica
Skype: mircx777
Paypal email: roynergarcia@yahoo.com

Please post a link to this thread in the scammer's thread above.

Under construction.

Thanks, wusolini. Yes, I'll try to make some deals for sure, but as a newbie I can't participate in other forum sections. How many posts do I need to post somewhere else?

Under construction.

That guy contacted me last night I got on skype some member warned me first (thanks for that PM) I said I need escrow and the guy hung up! But he was Alvaro Barbarosa said he had some account i need to first send money and he is honest and once it clears he will send bitcions I said escrow he just left. That was that!

I did get my first transaction done this morning with try second later tonight so I'm excited to get this going. It's sad people are praying on members here it's a bad thing for Bitcion that this is going on I wish everyone was honest but I guess that is not the world we live in.

Sorry you had this bad experience I hope your next one is better. Good luck.

You can get your money back with paypal. File a claim and tell them exactly what happened.

Thanks for your support, guys! Unfortunately I can't do a chargeback because the money was sent from Paypal funds, not cc. Also, if I contact Paypal, wouldn't it be a problem if they find out about btc? I read accounts are at high risk of being closed because of that.

It doesn't matter you can still get your money back open a dispute. It's the sellers account that gets frozen or closed.

How many posts do I need to post somewhere else?

here's your answer:
Quote
Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have made one post and then waited 4 hours. This post must be substantial: at least several sentences.

Thanks again, wusolini.

Since I'd like to prove my honesty, I'm looking for someone (only established members) to sell me some small amounts of BTCs or COYEs and, of course, I go first. I have always thought that a good reputation is invaluable.

Make sure you leave a negative feedback and report him to the mods and LE (if it was a considerable amount of loss)

I would also pursue the paypal dispute route.

2 basic rules which can save you a lot of hassle:

1.) Use a reputable escrow
2.) Avoid members with lack of or negative feedback

I would, but it seems people fear paypal chargebacks even using Escrow. In my case you can't have any chargebacks because I'm paying via paypal balance, not cc.

Yes you can, it doesn't matter. Pretty much nobody but scammers use PP round here.

Can't you transfer money to a reputable exchange or pay via cash deposit to a reputable private seller?

Unfortunately at the moment my only viable solution is Paypal. All it would take is someone who I can buy some BTC or COYE from and then I can't forget Paypal for BitcoinTalk transactions and use only e-currency.

Just do a charge back with paypal... You will totally win.  Smiley

Hi there, to you all!

I'm a newbie (on this forum) as well, and just stumbled upon this topic.
Sorry for the loss, but I do agree with minfulmojo and others here when they say: do a charge back/ open a dispute with paypal.

I've once been in that situation as well.
I paid for something, and ... wel you guess it already ... no delivery of what I ordered. Now, it was only a tiny amount of money (just a few dollars), but I heard from someone the same thing (that is: the possibility of getting your money back via Paypal). At first I was sceptic, and thought 'Yeah, right'. But still I did make the effort of reading information about it on the Paypal site.
I followed what the information said, and guess what ... couple of weeks later, I got everything I paid back!

So maybe this positive experience can help you over the line. Hope you check the information out there on Paypal, and take the actions as described there. Success! and wish y'all the best  Smiley
