Hi,

I heard somebody mention they were attempted to set up this kind of service for local UKians. How many British people have an interest in such a service?

[EDIT]

There is now a UK-based exchange!

Praise the Lord!

I then use the money to buy BitCoins. You can too!

I'm sure there are more than 2 - But maybe without the time it takes to sign up to all of these map sites to stick their pins in.

Anyone can put up an electronic exchange by downloading the source code for bitcoin central, and integrating support for GlobalDigitalPay's GBP currency.

Or ask Davout to add GBP to the currencies of Bitcoin-Central. I think he even lives in the UK.

I'd too like to see a facility to exchange into GBP. What's the best method currently of getting from bitcoin to GBP?

This week I should have an exchange running. I'm in talks now with a company trying to legalise everything.

Probably we'll have a demo site for trading small amounts this month, and then once we gain the license, they want to setup a proper operation.

You can preview it here,
http://fishysnax.com/intersango/
(not the final site & an older version)

And source code is open too, http://gitorious.org/intersango/master/trees/master

Well done.

In particular, kudos for working on a license.  This is the best way to legitimize bitcoin, and take it mainstream.

Would love to see the come to fruition. I've only just started mining but am expecting £30-40 a week, and don't even know how to go about converting from BTC into any currency yet.

Any help?

We haven't made a public announcement yet because we're still performing Q&A testing, but we plan to open on Monday.

Hi, is this a peer-peer trading website (As in just a place to advertise sales) or do you provide a service for direct exchange of BTC into GBP? If so, how do you currently transfer the currency to the user (Bank transfer/Paypal etc)

Peer-peer trading site like mtgox. We act as the escrow. People deposit money onto their accounts and trade with other people. The service will be free for this month until we legitimise our operation.

Money is transferred using bank deposits ATM.

We can begin taking deposits, but money will not appear on accounts until Monday.

BTW the website source is GPL3 (including artwork), http://gitorious.org/intersango/master/trees/master

I'll be interested in an UK exchange.

Also interested in buying for cash and perhaps arranging a meetup.
