Proof Of Burning Hard-drive.  

Proof of Work is based on performing a difficult task that is easy to verify as genuine by many others on the network. I'm not sure how this would work for a Hard Drive. I suppose in theory the proof of work could be in actually being a node. Provided this work is easy to verify, and difficult to falsify, then you could incorporate rewards into the blockchain for those who support the network in this fashion.

BTW Come-from-Beyond experimented with quorum based coins. Maybe you should give an other try to eMU .  Hatching depends on the disk speed as well.

I have one too, and it clocks at 14000 read and 16000 write, but ramdisk mining is a surefire way to destroy your memory, they aren't built for that.

From my understanding of emu, for the first year or so hatching on a crappy 5400 rpm hard drive will be the same as hatching on an SSD, and I'm not very fond of that.
