Oh god yes, I just got a 2x 5970 rig up and running, and that's cranking out some serious heat! I had to move the rackmount against the window of the room and rig up some insulation foam into a rectangle tunnel going from the pci slot area to the window against the screening, then seal off the rest of the window with some to make an cheap external vent @.@

I'll only be mining when I need free heat so yes, pre-started a little on 200 W this weekend, will go up to about 800 watts total and move myself into a smaller room as temperature drops..

Used my rig as a space heater these past few months - worked well and cheaper than aircon for some reason. Not looking forward to summer though.

Hash rate may increase.

I like cold weather, so im happy for the fact that winter is soon here. My 2x 5870 run at 65c-67 atm, not too high anyways, think it's gonna drop a few degrees from that when I put my pc near the window and that can only be a good thing.  Smiley

Heat and noise, both in unspeakable proportions, plague me during the summer months.

Fortunately, most of the hardware is in the garage.

Bahha, I bet you're getting what is coming from the gulf, which in return is zeroing out that cold front from hitting you. Right at the edge though.

Edit:
Yup.

You are doing it wrong. It's FAR more efficient to vent the hot air than try to cool it. If you can't throw it out in a garage, or into the basement then buy a 4x8 sheet of insulation, roll of ductape, a cheap roll of screen door mesh and a box fan.

Plop the PC infront of the window, insulate around it, mesh the window off and the front of the "rectangle insulation case" and throw the box fan infront of it. Ductape the holes and call it a day.

It's far cheaper to run a box fan than the AC.
