I've installed the Bitcoin client on my primary computer and much to my dismay I can't seem to get it to work. It has 8 connections, but it only downloads the first 500 blocks then stops. I've deleted everything and tried to start from scratch, but so far no luck. Does anyone know a way to force it to download the blockchain?

Yep. It's started going now after purging it once again. No idea what was up with it. It's still freezing every now and then.

Yes, it's running fine now but it was stuck at 500 for almost an hour and a half.
