Once we determine which exchange is attempting to sell off the coins that exchange will be deemed useless.
If you or Billy buys the coins from them direct, it will still get traced somewhere whether it be an exchange, business, or another individual.
Do not accept these FBI/drug coins in the market.

I will accept the FBI coins. You're attacking Bitcoin's core value proposition, which is fungibility, with this call. True money has to be fungible, meaning each unit exchangeable on a 1:1 basis with another.

Agree with OP, I don't necessarily want to avoid dodgy coins, but I'm not going to go out of my way to be a buyer of them. Wasn't so long ago everyone was up in arms about coin tainting and blacklisting, I don't know what the future holds in that regards.

They were fine before the FBI took them but not now? They were never fine as deemed by the FBI. The FBI however cannot claim use of the coins along with the original owner, owners, individuals, etc. They must be wiped from the Bitcoin network since they are disputed within another network. These outside network systems cannot create a negative impact on Bitcoin or it then defeats the purpose of using this system for holding and exchanging value on a global scale. We the community are aware of these coins and they have been marked for this purpose, it does not matter how much you try to "wash" the coins, they will forever be locked in the Bitcoin system. |

If you're not going to accept coins from any address that was touched by the FBI-coins (once they hit the open market), you might as well stop using Bitcoin. Dooglus (known for Just-Dice) at some point performed an analysis to determine where the famous 10K BTC for a pizza ended up. The answer? Pretty much everywhere (source: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/450/is-there-any-way-to-track-an-individual-bitcoin-or-satoshi/2900#2900). And that was at a time when Bitcoin was being used a lot less. Sooner or later, any coins that you don't like will find a way into your wallet. It is inevitable unless you disconnect yourself from the currency. |

This is 100% true. indeed 100 % true, if this were possible, that a group of activists could somehow invalidate anyones bitcoin for whatever reason they deem fit, because they dont like how these bitcoins were acquired, soon people would lose faith in bitcoins value. Because what is next, a group of anti gambling activist declares all Satoshi dice bitcoin null and void ? or a group of anti porn activists declares all bitcoin earned by porn sites null and void ? What the OP plans to do can not be done with bitcoin and that is a good thing, because if it could be done, this would be a much bigger threat to BTC then the FBI dumping some coins. To me this fear of the FBI dumping their coins is just silly, it actually demonstrates to the neutral unbiased observer that a lot of bitcoin owners feel pretty insecure about the vallue of their bitcoins since they so worried about someone dumping them. This looks a lot like when a new altcoin hits the exchanges and holders start bashing peeps for dumping their coins on the exchange. These plans about boycotting anyones coins are just fantasies of people that refuse to face reality and deal with it. |

As much as I hate the idea of the FBI and Government profiting from a drug raid ... (I've been raided before and am currently on probation)...
This is like saying you don't enjoy holding the $20 bill in your wallet because it has trace amounts of cocaine on it. Roughly 90% of all US paper currency has trace amounts of cocaine on it. If you don't want those bills, I'll gladly take them.

You don't have to create a fork, you can do it yourself on your own. Let us know when that software is available, but note that once (if) the FBI auctions those coins (probably years away) within a very short period it will be nearly impossible to get a bitcoin payment without having tainted coins at some point. If you want the network to reject the coins as was stated above, then you will have a hard fork. It would be interesting to see how many people join the NonFungibleCoin network. I know that many people will not want to establish the precedent that anyone is able to decide for any particular reason in the future that their coins are no longer spendable. |

To add the the argument, if you receive a single satoshi from anyone that got at least a satoshi from somebody who got at least a satoshi (you get the idea) from the FBI, all of your bitcoins at the receiving address will be tainted, not only that single satoshi. |

If you went to the ATM right now and found out the $20 bill you just took out use to be in the pocket of a serial child molestor , would you return the $20 bill ?
Someone in another thread said something that stuck in my head.... money isn't guilty.
A bitcoin is a bitcoin, regardless of who's hands it ever passed though.
Unless the FBI were to dump them all at once (which there isn't any indication they would) you should be happy the coins are coming back on the market. Would you prefer the FBI just hoard them ?
