With Bitmain’s Equihash ASIC on the market now, what other coin/options a GTX1070 owner has to make a good profit apart from mining ETH? What you guys going to do with your GPUs?

Other Equihash coins? XMR ? XVG? Anything else?

As you said, XVG seems to be currently the best alternative for Nvidia 1070. Other Equihash coins, I don't know, there are not many to choose from. I mean, you could try ZCL, ZEN, or BTCP. Some of them have announced they are gonna change their algo, but it remains to be seen how it goes. You can try your luck and mine some of the less known coins, such as SPD (C11) or XSH (Lyra2v2).

the main problem with XVG is that its frequently hacked to lower difficulty by some group and mined in millions. I think currently such an incident going on right now .

I was mining XVG until yesterday's attack; now I'm done with them.

I have a GTX 1060 and will be mining BTCP as it is supposed to fork because of the ASIC. ZenCash is another Equihash algo coin that has announced it will fork as well.

You could try either of those.

Same here, I dumped all my XVG. Would you hold a currency that you know can be deflated in a matter of hours by anyone with enough knowledge and howto ?

Why invent anything?
Miners does not really care what kind of asiks come out, it's inevitable. Most will still choose the most profitable algorithms at the current time.

The problem that I have is that my electricity rate is as high as 15c so that I need to find a good alternative that my 1070s makes  me a decent profit or at least a break even monthly. I wonder whether BTCP or zencash could do that magic for me lol. Fallback plan is to surrender to ETH lol

I don't think 15c is such a high electricity rate that you won't be able to make profit.

Go to https://www.crypto-coinz.net/crypto-calculator/

Enter you card type, and the corresponding cost in  $kW/h.

In the results, I can see a decent list of coins you would be able to mine and still get a profit. Even if we take into account that these online tools usually overestimate the profit, you should be fine.

Had some experience with BTCP. I used to mine it since it was still ZCL. Profitable? Not as much.

My opinion is that with BTCP you are doing speculative mining since BTCP is still considered fairly new and undervalued. They aren't even listed on any of the big exchanges yet. There is room to grow definitely, and when that happens all the miners would surely be rewarded. The question now i guess is IF and WHEN.

This is a good summary of the situation with BTCP currently. The block reward is not large, and if you decide to mine, it makes sense only if you want to keep the coins and hope for a future rise. BTCP definitely has a potential, its privacy features are promising and it has a decent team and community. But BTCP is not a coin I would choose if I wanted to make profit short term.
