From last few days, so many negative news regarding btc have been aired. Then lot of people speculate the price of bitcoin and just after that I have noticed some significant change in the price index of btc. Do you think that these speculation affect the price of btc a lot???

Yes. Most of the negative effects of Bitcoin's price fluctuation come from speculation and negative news. There are very few events (the hacking of an exchange for example) that -should- impact the price of crypto; the rest of it is speculation.

Well, I think not all speculation are brings negativity to bitcoin because most of it gives good effects to bitcoin movements. It is true that our speculation has a biggest impact to bitcoin so it is better for us to be much careful in giving speculations or maybe it is much better that let us keep it only into our mind so we are the only one who knows what we are speculate.

It depends on who is speculating mate. If big media companies and whales are speculating it would effect the market right away as you can see on the market. They always throw some news about how China or Russia had regulations about bitcoin and after couple of hours another news comes and says that there were actually no regulation. If you want to be successful trader you should try to be away from all those speculations. |

No it will just create a good atmosphere for bitcoin discussion and could also be the reference on members holding some bitcoins. Some members here could excellently explain the good things on bitcoin and their speculation. This is why we have the bitcointalk forum for bitcoin discussion and it is good to discuss about bitcoin speculation. For me this is a good thread to start the speculation for bitcoin.

No, speculation doesn't affect the price of bitcoin in a huge way unless these people are whales who could manipulate the price whenever they want. Bad news in general could affect the price but if we are only talking about speculation alone I doubt it. These could just be FUD I mean anyone could post "Bitcoin heading $XXXX next week/month/year".
Slightly off topic but since we are talking about Bitcoin's down ward movement the MtGox trustee might be the one who caused the price to go down today.

You can't say that "a lot of people are speculating" because all of us are speculating the price of Bitcoin, and of course it does affect the price and the price of Bitcoin is driven by traders, investors, miners, exchanges especially the big ones. I'll give you an example, lets say that a huge company announced that they will invest huge amount of money in Bitcoin after the price dropped a lot, this means that they believe it will become more valuable in the future and that is considered speculating. It will affect the price because they bought huge amount of the supply of Bitcoin. |

Yes, speculation not only affects the current market but it creates consequences which work as an obstacle to the growth of cryptocurrencies as a payment system. Definitely, crypto is based on speculation so if there's a negative news coming, or even fake news, it will surely put a impact on the price. Just look at how the statement of Warren B and Bill G., it has somewhat happen the spirit of some (newbie)traders that's why they decided to sell off. And who would forgot Jamie Dimon attacks last September, damn that was intense, but the good thing though is that this kind of attacks affect the market short term. Because investors take the opportunity to buy in dips resulting in the market recovery. |

Depends on who's making the speculation. Likely no one will listen to a new guy spreading words of dooms day but if someone, who's more significant in crypto, starts spreading the same word, that might lower the price. Also, depends if those words get to people who are holding larger amounts of btc.  |

Bear markets cause market events, not the other way around. This is something most people don't get.
In bull markets, bad news doesn't matter. Nobody cares because demand is too strong to affect price. In bear markets, sell pressure is already strong and people are looking for any excuse to sell. So market declines have less to do with bad news itself and everything to do with bearish market conditions.
Broadly, speculation is extremely important. Healthy price discovery is vital to the market.

Of course! Baseless speculations/predictions or what most of us call is, FUD is one of the major things that affects the price of bitcoin in the market. News about bitcoin influences weak handed people to believe on what they are saying so for example someone who is known in the crypto community posted something on their social media account like "sell now, blah blah blah" so immediately, they will believe it and sell their bitcoin thus resulting to them contributing more to the dip. |

It does, speculations can affect the value of bitcoin negatively.
Especially if it is related to "failing" of bitcoin, it will influence a few of the users to panic sell their coins contributing to the dump and somehow to the drop of the price depending on the volume they dumped.
Speculations can affect it positively still, too, if it is about the rise of the value or constant, steady growth, it can attract more buyers and investors into bitcoin changing the demand-supply of crypto thus increasing value.

If there were no speculation within the market, then it would mean that bitcoin prices will solely be based on the adoption rates of bitcoin. If adoption goes up, then demand will go up, and prices will indeed increase as well. Price speculation obviously would affect the price of bitcoin, and also increase the volatility of bitcoin as a result. It's not always negative, though. Prices can also go up as a result of speculation, not just go down. Speculation is just an element of bitcoin, and is the case for any asset traded on the market. |

I guess the market of bitcoin price or market cryptocurrency as whole in a few months back have a downtrend, so every speculation who made by someone or some company will affect the price of bitcoin, especially came a bad information.
Each user will considered between hold and sell, but most user take decided to sell bitcoin because they afraid the price will continue to decline. Psychological users of cryptocurrency will be hung when the conditions of the market trend.

People should not speculate much and should be buying/selling considering the price and the future.
It's a free market. In the end, we don't like banks and governments telling us what to do, so let's not do the same. I don't mind short term speculators to hop on board, because every person, long term minded or short term minded, brings in capital. Speculation is a crucial part of every market, and without that, markets just aren't as interesting, and thus fail to attract capital. It's not for nothing that dividend stocks exist. If you can't provide volatility or speculation because your business is consistent in its earnings and everything, you need to find other ways to attract that capital and to keep it in your market.... |

I would say yes they do affect a lot. Good and bad news in crypto market plays a vital role in marketing. This falls on the number is inventors come in and go. Onviously when the good news come is when the price goes high and investors come in to sell to see genuine profits. This makes to circulate the coin more and gain more values. Actually people speculate affects bitcoin negatively because it is like fuds or spreading news to others. So better we don't listen to false news or speculation as it is not accurate. Price is unstable it become decrease and increase. |

I don't know what's your point but trading is all about speculation because no one knows that will happen exactly in the future. We all just have to use the historical price chart to aid us in speculating what the future price will be along with market sentiment and fundamental news which would be the key of how the traders would react. Maybe what you mean is the negative news that would affect the bitcoin price negatively so I would just say that may it be true or not, it would have an impact on its price due to the fact that there are many newbies in the market who would panic sell when they heard or see a negative news. |

It affects bitcoin negatively as other users listen easily and breaks their trust on the future of bitcoin. Their faith just disappear when news comes out that price of bitcoin drops. They do affect Bitcoin. All the Bitcoin experts have been speculating about the future prices of the coin and speculate that the monetary value of the coin will rise as much as 30,000 dollars. Well people follow these experts and after doing some research on their own as well they invest their money right away. This is the power of speculations and has been of great worth back in 2017. |

Yeah, it will be pretty hard these days, except very few that utilize bitcoin as a currency, day to day means of payment unless there is just that huge need for it. Yeah, we cannot blame anyone since it will always be their decisions to make and in that case, one thing has to give way for the other. With real life usage, in a massive form, the fluctuation would not have been highly huge but fluctuation is always a norm in any market. Speculation is the norm of the day and the only thing that pretty much drives the value of bitcoin as it is today and that sure do have an effect massively on the market. |

Speculation cuts both ways, it can be positive or it can be negative, in its positive side as soon as there is a positive news about bitcoin coming form the developers you can almost instantly see the price going up and then if we keep receiving positive news a bull market can form, the bad thing about speculation is that the media can influence people very easily and if several bad news appear then the price can go down dramatically and if it is big enough a bear market can form. |

Speculation is a huge part in the bitcoin market right now, but is it really something bad that we need to be concerned about? I think not. Speculation can move prices both upwards and downwards, and it doesn't necessarily always have to be downwards. And also as exstasie mentioned, a lot of the times, what really influences the prices are the current sentiment in the market, not individual pieces of news coverage. Right now, we're in a bear market, which means that naturally traders will have the tendency to feel pessimistic about the market movements in the future, causing the downward movements that we see right now. It's part of how prices naturally moves in cycles, it's not anything negative. |

Actually people speculate affects bitcoin negatively because it is like fuds or spreading news to others. So better we don't listen to false news or speculation as it is not accurate. Price is unstable it become decrease and increase. Being too speculant will only be affected by those people who expect too much, its ok to speculate what the price would be, how much you wanted it to reached but never get too disappointed if it not achieved yet,that's how the market works. |

True, speculations are normally done by people and we can't control the way they are going to take the changes in the market. We speculate not to affect bitcoin negatively nor positively, we do it for the soul reason of sharing what we feel and think about bitcoin. There is nothing wrong if we speculate negatively, it is part of the observation, it will just really depend how you are going to accept things. Honestly, negative speculations can affect bitcoin negatively but think about it. We can speculate positively as much as we want but if the market is still not moving positively, accept the fact that there will always be negative thinking. |

Ironically, people do indeed take all the negativity for granted, but they completely ignore all the positivity that reaches them in the exact same way. I fail to understand why exactly this keeps happening. If you are subject to this form of manipulation, it should work both ways, but it doesn't. The only thing that comes to my mind is manipulation. The average person always waits for a movement in order to act. If whales initiate a dump after bad news, people think it's affecting the market because the price is going down, so they sell. If whales decide not to pump after bullish news, it means that people won't be buying. It's makes sense, but there might also be a few other factors that play a role of importance. |

The mental state of the ones trading in the market is very important as well, when the participants are very bullish about the market FUD and other bad news have a tendency to be ignored and only the good news have an effect in the market, and when the participants of the market are bearish then FUD has an easier time affecting the market, this is one of the reasons of why the price does not seem to recover since people are simply too afraid to keep investing in the market right now. |

There is no doubt FUD affects the market of bitcoin and when you add the volatility of bitcoin to the mix this only make things worse, however while this can affect the price negatively there are moments where the opposite happens and we saw this in bubble of the last year, where many positive news came at the same time and we saw a huge growth in the price of bitcoin. |

From last few days, so many negative news regarding btc have been aired. Then lot of people speculate the price of bitcoin and just after that I have noticed some significant change in the price index of btc. Do you think that these speculation affect the price of btc a lot???
It depends on the speculation, if most of the speculations that is being created by different users are all negative then there is a huge chance for the price to sink in since there will be more people who are going to sell their coins more than holding it. |

Speculation has both positive and negative effect on the market whichever one that outweigh the other that is what will prevail in the crypto currency market and that is what has been happening in the previous years.

I think speculation is always there in a currency or crypto market, no harm in speculation and the whole world and the life here is always a speculation. Bitcoin price is based on the news spread out and good/bad things happening about crypto around the world and the major things is supply and demand of it.
I don't think speculation plays a vital role in creating negative for Bitcoin.

Speculations and fud are just the same, if most of the people will prefer to create black propaganda's in order to lessen the amount of investors then there is a chance for the price of bitcoins to decrease even more in the future. |

Speculations will always be there especially when a good name has earned a lot of great feedback. A lot may have had talks and comments about it, sometimes, some will make their own cryptocurrency just to be equal or even higher. But those who trusted and tested Bitcoins already knew that once a master will always be a master!
