In what way? Alt coins probably wont affect Bitcoin in the slightest unless one is released that is much better. Sometimes Bitcoin can affect the price of alts though as when Bitcoin rises so do the alts usually.

I think it's the other way round - If Bitcoin moves alts tend to follow suit - There are still no serious contenders to Bitcoin
