I am unable to connect to MtGox as of now. Is anybody else experiencing this problem?

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

I am unable to connect to MtGox as of now.

http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/mtgox.com

Sometimes it shows
It's just you.
sometimes
It's not just you!

So, I can confirm, that your problem exists.

Looks like ns1.theplanet.com/ns2.theplanet.com randomly reply sometimes with the right ip, and sometimes with the wrong ip. This is really troublesome.

I've still got "174.121.74.59 mtgox.com" in my hosts file from the DNS change the other day, and MtGox works for me. DNS problems recurring, maybe?

Edit: removed mtgox.com from my hosts file, still works. There's another thread where it's suggested that the problem is with Google's DNS servers. Could that be the problem here? (Doesn't fully explain why Downforeveroneorjustme would see the site as down, unless they hit Google's DNS...)

Maybe its not the right discussion, but can someone explain what mtgox is?

You could just simply google MtGoX, it was an old exchanger that has has been shut down years ago.
