What is going on in the market?

This is really unexpected with little news to determine whats driving the drop. I had finally just got back to parity with my investments last week and now 30% below invested. This year has been dire. To those just starting out in crypto ( within the last 2 months) you're in the box seat with the market where it's at. the rest of us are trying to claw some gains to get back in the black.

What happens in the market either be a bear market or a bull market is typically normal in cryptocurrency and crypto market is like a roller coaster ride.
There are ups and downs in the market and this is how we live it that way. Since both of us are new to the market of cryptocurrency, we need to focus and study the market trend then payback would be a rewarding one once you had enough knowledge how to handle such a condition like this.

I know this reaction very well. 

I used to be same like you when I was completely new in the crypto currency market Here market does not move in the decimals (unlike stocks) but it moves like crazy by couple of thousands dollars for major currencies and equivalent drops in the smaller coins.

Yes it is completely normal one and you dont have to worry about a thing here. If you are holding the coins and you see major drop in the value then just hold them for more time as the market recovers you will recover your investment too. Thats the ideal way to survive in the crypto market with such high volatilities.

As of the moment (5/24/2018) the market is falling down which is a good opportunity for every investor to buy coins at very low price. If you are holding coins right now you must hold it or else you will lose the value that you're holding. Do not panic sell your coin just other people did to avoid regret in the future when the market rises again.

I also do not sell altcoins at this time because I invest in more value. I personally believe that this year Bitcoin will increase very strongly and will reach the $ 20,000 price again this year. I think the market is in a very big correction and will soon end this month. The best advice is to use all your possessions to buy the altcoins you think are the most potent

the market is now in a red state as well as the duration of the time is very long apart from that the price drop is so great we can see in some very large drop exchanges happening in some old currency but the green price for some new currency whether this could be a move for the investors?

The situation in the market is connected with investor sentiment. And large investors expect positive signals from regulators. Most likely, we will not see significant upward movements on the market until July, when significant measures are expected to regulate crypto-currency

Yes, it could be one factor but there are 2 main factors that I really think contributes to the recent downtrend:

The U.S Department of Justice has reportedly launched a criminal investigation into cryptocurrency traders who may have manipulated the market using old-school illicit tactics.

According to a report by Bloomberg on Thursday, citing anonymous sources familiar with the probe, the investigation is being conducted together with the Commodity and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

One area of the investigation targets so-called spoofing - a technique that has been used in traditional financial markets to affect price movements by making large volumes of fake orders - that possibly influenced trades of bitcoin and ether, according to the report

This news is somewhat very damaging to the market as it involves USA which we all know if a big market for crypto outside of big 3 in Asia (Japan, S. Korea and China).

This is not the stock market. The current huge swings we observe are normal for an mature unregulated market that is heavily manipulated by whales.

What you and everyone else should do it research and find the best quality projects (eg. alts like ETH,NEO,VEN,Monero etc.) and hold them longterm. Don't try to trade you will get burned from the price manipulation.
