Hi Guys!

So I wanted to build a new Mining Rig for my friend but it somehow isnt working the way I want it to work.

Hardware: CPU G3900
RAM DDR4 4GB
Mainboard Gigabyte GA H110
PSU EVGA 850W
SSD 120 GB
GPUs 4x 4GB SAPPHIRE RX 580

So I basically installed Windows on top of it and it runs fine until I want to install the Drivers for the GPUs. I tried Blockchain and the 18.4.1 Crimson Drivers. As soon as they are installed Windows starts to freeze for no apparent reason. Especially when I right click it takes like 4 seconds to open a Menu. Also when I want to start a program, it takes like 10 seconds. Internet is also a pain as it occasionally freezes when I move the cursor and it freezes for like 2 seconds. Especially the mouse cursor freezes a lot and I dont know what to do.

I enabled Mining Mode in BIOS and PCIe Gen, 4G Support.

Now it gets interesting:

When I unplug all cards except the one on the mainboard everything works fine again. As soon as I plug in a second GPU it starts freezing again.

I tried switching Risers...no changes. I reinstalled everything again on a second ssd. No changes, same problems, same behaviour.

I can give some pics of the mining rig or the problems that occur if you want. I just want it solved.

Hope someone is able to help me.

Thanks for reading!

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Apparently it seems motherboard compatibility issue with your GPU cards. You should check if there is any bios firmware updates that might help.

Hi!

So I tried updating the bios from the official page from gigabyte and it says the bios update isnt compatible and the execution cant be started. Pretty strange. Another thing is whenever I enable more than 1 card the audio drivers wont work anymore.

Are you really sure its the mainboard that causes all of the trouble? Or could it be a software issue or another hardware issue?

Greetings

Well it's just a guess from your description of the problem, first step for you is to make sure it's not hardware (motherboard compatibility) issue by upgrading to latest Bios firmware. You can contact your motherboard manufacturer and perhaps they can guide you to right bios update and perhaps also help you figure out, why only installing GPU freezes everything.

You may try to post your problem at https://superuser.com/, you are likely to get more people to help you. This forum won't get you much needed help. Just my two cents.

Did you install windows10 1803 version ?? if you did, just rollback or fresh install windows10 1709 version. And after install the lastest update for 1709 version manually, turn off the automatic update for windows.

As I said I tried to update the BIOS but its not possible as windows says the program is not compatible. I was on the official page. But Ill probably will post this on superuser, thanks for the advice.

I have never had similar problem. Have you tried to plug those GPUs on another motherboard?
What about to enter in safe mode, use Display Driver Uninstaller and install driverd again this way?
I have heared from some people that they have driver crash problems on windows 10.
Do you have this problem when you try to update bios?

1) Make sure you download the correct bios from Gigabyte's website. It has to match the revision number of your board.
2) Copy it onto a usb flash drive
3) Boot into bios and flash the new bios from there using the bios flash utility - do not flash the mobo bios from within Windows!

That should make things easier.
