I noticed that on crypto currency wallets there is an option to "debug".  What the hell does that mean?

I'm new to this digital coin stuff but I'm a programmer so I can figure out stuff pretty quick
so from what I've seen the debug is a window with 2 tabs:
Information - it shows info of the wallet/client, network and the blockchain + a couple of buttons to access the log and list of command line arguments
Console - this is something like windows cmd/linux shell that allows you to run some commands, type help to see the list of commands
The commands in the console are pretty self explanatory Smiley
