cannot correctly visualiza cgminer on xubuntu - pls help a newbie

Hi,
After a lot of fun, finally i got my r9280x running on xubuntu. (looking to run 4 more on the same mob when the risers arrives and i managed the setup).
The GPU seems to work well, but launching cgminer from terminal get me only this window:




So only the log.  I lack the "header", with temperatures etc.. and i can't use the keyboard commands (like "g" for gpu, "p" for pool etc...)

...what am i doing wrong?

Your doing better than me. I can't seem to install amd drivers without wrecking my desktop on ubuntu 13.10. Maybe I should xubuntu.

EDIT: solved! I didn't retype "make install" after installing   libcurl. Now all is working fine!
