I was curious if any focus has been put on getting Steam to accept bitcoins?  With Steam developing its new OS, and being such a huge name across the entire PC platform, I'm surprised that the company hasn't made any indication about it's future intentions with crypto currencies.

I think it would be a huge win for bitcoin if it was adopted by Steam.  Steam is a huge technical company known for innovation and I think adopting bitcoin would be very positive press for the company.

I'm sure the will in the near future. Send them an email about it.

I think first they need to add the feature of activating codes into your steam gift inventory.

I could see the Humble Bundle people start to accept bitcoins before Steam will, but that will be a good step towards having them support it.

Is this legit? Why would they not add a proper little Bitcoin button instead?

I just use services that provide steam wallet codes for BTC such as steamloader. It's pretty fast too. I don't think steam will be accepting bitcoins anytime soon though.
