The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

It wasn't too clear, but if France (as in the French government) intends to create a European foundation, that is bad because then it will be under their thumb.  If it won't be government created, this is good.

I am curious how long until the word "bitcoin" runs afoul of the French language police like they try to ban "email", "blog", and "fast food".  Lol.

Ouch. My eyes are burning.

Bitcoin has a very strict set of rules. It has since 2009. Maybe you mean people need rules?

Sounds like a similar atmosphere to the US Congressional hearing. France is wary about the AML issues of Bitcoin, but they are much more worried they will be left behind in technology. All it takes is for one or two countries to embrace bitcoin (or at least ignore it), and everyone else will jump on once they understand the advantages of the new tech.

For Bitcoin, France is the worst possible country of the EU to start thinking of creating european wide foundations. The only reason the country hasn't descended into a shithole like North Korea is due to its extremely rich natural resources, especially excellent agricultural soil and weather, as well a central position in Europe (more than geographically). That and that the Germans have kept them sane, like when the french were crying full lungs for baby-squid Super Mario to debase the euro faster just a couple of years back...

I can see the French totally losing their minds over bitcoin ... some have already it seems.

I wouldn't go let any number of bitcoins go near the place, it will be schizophrenic treatments at best, completely communist at worst.
