So this appeared on the altcoin mining board:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3898845.0

I reported it as "off topic - not about mining" or smth like that (unfortunately the reporting page doesn't show what I entered in the comments). It was marked as bad. Am I missing something that makes this a mining thread? To me it looks like an announcement thread with the word "mining" mentioned once at the end. Massive shitposting all over the thread and it's basically pinned at the top of the board because the traffic in other threads isn't that high.

And they bought a lot of comments from Jr Members. Just watch the history of comments from some. These are always sequential comments on some specific projects to bump their topics.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1205478;sa=showPosts

bitxoxo+pacman+enoxcoin+eternel = They are using the same service for pumping their topics with comments that doesn't say anything.

If we had to be extremely pedantic then I'd say masternodes are technically a way to mine an altcoin except they seem to also be shilling their token and trying to sell their master node tokens which should belong to the Shilling Spamfest Section Altcoin Bounties or if they're auctioning the nodes then Auctions (or whatever the actual case).

Uhhh I just had a look at the thread, literally the first comment reads like a shill comment

This sort of response by a mod has made me back away from reporting posts. I appreciate the difficulty faced by mods, but they should consider community opinion when assessing reports if they want our help.

Maybe the answer is to have a neutral rating, and not just good or bad.

It surely is off topic for the board.

@Jet Cash we need improved statistics for Report to moderator feature (although we already seen some minor additions)

It was marked as bad.
This experience brings me this question...
What happens when we report a topic which is not in the right board?
Seems like the system does not count it as a good report.

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

That's the only excuse I can think of for that thread to stay there but then the mining board would be inundated with 500 other masternode coins.

POW - mining
POS - staking

IMO

No, it's fine, it would be counted as good if the mod agreed with you and moved the post. For example:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4174636

Was originally in Scam Accusations, I reported it, it got moved, it counts as a good report.

There is a neutral rating - it's called "unhandled"... if it stays unhandled forever I'd consider that a neutral. Mods make mistakes too, I don't have a problem with that. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something obvious about that thread. I think I'll report it again and link back here.

The topic is about POS (imo), I think it's still relevant in Mining (Altcoins) even though the @OP explains like Ann content in general

but I want to say thanks to you, lately I often see you walks in Mining (Altcoins) and give some "awards" to some topics.

I'd debate that claim that it is fully relevant. Since I enjoy analogies the Bitcoin equivalent of that would be similar to someone making a bitcoin mining guide and starting that off with a link to "Buy my Antminer <link here>".

The intention of the mining guide should be to teach people to mine and not to sell your product. But again as I mentioned the line between shilling and not shilling is kinda thing and difficult to effectively segregate here and going purely on the rules that are "written" I can see why it's allowed

Yes, I understand every member has different arguments and perspectives in applying the rules in this forum regardless of whether it violates the rules or not, of course in the end the Moderator who executes that the topic by moving (to ANN)/removing that the topic.

but I see on that topic there is little knowledge that can be taken.

Nothing to do with Bitcoin. This is about an altcoin thread on an altcoin board.

If you go look around in beginner and help board also I think it needs cleaning because they are discussing ICO projects there, hacking account,  altcoin  comparison, altcoin speculation,  someone stop those making that board as general board for all topic. This board should all about 'how to start things'

Well, my report has been marked bad for the second time so apparently masternodes are ok on the mining board. Go figure.

well, you can judge master nodes as mining. because masternode operators are rewarded by earning block rewards. if you just think about it this way then it is "mining".

dont understand me wrong. the topic you linked is horrible...

By posting this topic you are questioning the ability of moderator(s) and are trying to enforce your own rules. stop bitching and start reporting obvious garbage posts first.

You are correct but mining board moderator mprep usually active on the forum and trash the irrelevant and spam thread from that board completely. He seems splendid in his work for all the boards he is being a moderator. We can see service and ICO announcement thread on various section but it is comes with the hand of any newbies. So if we lock access for newbies to some most reputed section we can these kind of spams little more like how meriting system helping the forum.

So according to you, self promotion isn't as equally bad? I would much much rather have mining free of those couple of odd threads than bothering reporting those repetitive comments in those mega threads. Since atleast they are concentrated in one single board as opposed to what suchmoon pointed out.

Speaking of your other point, I don't really remember or care to check but you telling other's not to question staff (which isn't a rule anywhere and in most cases is allowed as long as you have sufficient proof to back yourself) is pretty damn ironic.

Throwback to the time you questioned the DT system Theymos, very senior admin made and the many many times you made similar hypocritical statements.

Do us all a favour, just keep your promise
