Newegg seems to keep finding new stock of these cards.

It seems weird shipments to newegg for the 6990 seemed few and far between in the past. Does this mean manufacturers are trying to get their stock out quickly so they can prepare for 7xxx cards?
Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

6990's are a niche product few gamers were buying (prior to the bitcoin surge in April-May).
Coincidentally the stocks ran out everywhere as mining became commonplace.

At current difficulty levels and bitcoin prices, 6990's aren't even nearly as profitable.
It will take a long, long time to break even with these. They aren't selling like hotcakes anymore.

That's not what I was saying. These cards have sold out on newegg multiple times in the last week or two and newegg keeps restocking. They never did this before and no one else has either. It seems like 6990's are being delivered weekly now which wasn't the case a month or two ago.

I jumped on them last week thinking that huray!, I can make a few bucks again...
But then I saw the steady inventories and sales drop on ebay and amazon, so I cancelled my orders...
Another 15 are back in stock as a result Smiley
