Well, it depends what you're looking to spend. My advice is to avoid Bitcoin mining because it is a very risky game at this point, and to just pursue Scrypt (Litecoin / Altcoin) mining. If you really want to try BTC mining, here are some good companies to look for:

1) ASICMiner
ASICMiner makes amazing, but rather expensive and power hungry hardware. They use very old chips that are power hungry, but feel free to pick up a blade for under $300 if you want a good intro to mining. They also make a USB miner called the Block Erupter, but please don't get these, as they are not fast at all (333 MH/s) and will cost $35. If you want a nice USB miner, look at AntMiner below.

5/10

2) Avalon clones
This is where the mining game gets stepped up a notch and we start to get into higher hashrates. Since Avalon (to my knowledge) doesn't produce any new hardware (feel free to correct me), some manufacturers in China make Avalon clones that still hash at upwards of 200 GH/s. They aren't big devices and are great for getting into higher hashrates. They do take a bit of technical knowledge to set up, but that's what the amazing community here can help you with Cheesy. They will run you about $2500.

8/10

3) AntMiner
AntMiner makes two BTC mining devices. One of them is called the AntMiner U1 and the other is the AntMiner S1. The U1 is a USB BTC miner and normally hashes at about 1.6 GH/s for only $50, but can EASILY be overclocked to 2.0-2.2 GH/s with little technical knowledge. The AntMiner S1 is a much higher scale device that will cost you about $2600 (correct me if I'm wrong) and hashes at 180GH/s normally and can be overclocked to 205 GH/s.

9/10

4) All the other company PRE-ORDERS
Lots of companies are offering 2-3 TH/s for cheap compared to other mining gear. These pre-orders are not profitable, because one you get them, the difficulty will skyrocket and prevent you from making an ROI (return on investment). You are going to be disappointed once you buy one of these pre-orders.

Overall, if you want to get started with mining, I would suggest an AntMiner U1. They are relatively fast for the price, and are a great way to get started, as well as a nice conversation piece Cheesy

Hope I helped!

eBay would be a good place to start looking, but they charge $10 more over there. If you want to pay with BTC (The cheapest way) go to the group buy section. This is located in Mining -> Hardware -> Group buys.
