No it's not needed unless you'll be joining a signature campaign. The rank, you can increase by increasing your activity but the merit... not as easy.

it is not compulsory to put an signature to your profile, but if you join signature campaign it is now the time that you need to put there signature to your profile, depending on your rank. by ranking up you need to reach the certain cap of every rank, but in the higher rank you will need the merit now. earning merit is not as easy as you know. you need to post a high quality post or reply that could help this forum. try to read that in the beginner and help tab then newbies read before posting tab. its all stated there.

No, the opposite is true. Many established members of this forum (including many merit sources) frown upon members with signatures. Especially members with signatures who abuse the forum with meaningless one-liners and posts of low quality. If you want to  rank up and earn some merits, you have to to try to post quality posts that benefit other users. Wearing signatures in combination with posts of low quality can only potentially raise a red flag in their eyes.

Bringing the signature in which ICO you represent is necessary if you joining a campaign every project has its own regulations you ought to follow and need to comply. Making quality posts that can be beneficial to our community is one way you can earn merit in the forum, let the other member especially the senior member will be impressed by your post and be thoughtful to yourself you are judged here through your posts.

No, if they do not follow the signature campaign and the rank now depends on merit, if you make any posts or comments that qualify you will get merit and vice versa.

What are you going on about? Why would anyone have a problem with people advertising signatures in order to earn money? It is true that the people who post low quality posts and spam like crazy raise red flags, but advertising signatures does not automatically mean that they are posting low quality posts. Check the post quality before judging. Merit system basically minimizes this problem to a big extent anyway.

You would add a signature when you take part in a Signature Bounty campaign, and retain the signature with your profile until the campaign has ended. That way each post you make you are effectively advertising the project around Bitcointalk

People primarily put their signatures in if they are participating in Signature Campaigns.

Signature can not affect to your rising rank. But the higher rank affects your participation in bouty campaigns!

In case you didn't notice, I'm wearing a signature too. So I didn't say that wearing a signature is bad as such. But the fact remains that I there are countless threads whose sole purpose is to inflate the number of post required by the campaign. And you can't even read these threads, because most of the posts are meaningless.

Check the post quality before judging.

I don't see how. It would be the case if the campaign managers selected the participants based on their earned merits, but a vast majority of managers select the participants just by rank, not merits.

The reason why you see so many people wearing signed text is because people are involved in signing.

The signature does not affect the merit of your rank. People are involved in bounty campaign and put signature advertising in order to get some coins.

This question should have been posted in the Beginners & Help section and not here. No. It is not mandatory to have a signature or an avatar (or even a personal text). But in many cases campaigns may be ready to pay you good amounts of BTC or tokens, if you keep their signature or avatar.

Signature is not necessary for either rank or merit. You see so many signatures because it does not hurt to earn while you write, which you are doing anyway. There is just too much unnecessary suspicion in the correlation between signatures and posts, for ranks and merits ensure quality posts, and if it pays along the way, why not.

Wearing a signature is not compulsory, but it's just on you own decision. If you want to join on a campaign then you should wear the required signature according to your rank. And when it comes to merit it's nothing to do with rank. Merit is given to you by any users who find your post interesting. It's like and upvote.

Signature have nothing to with rank and merit but if you have more rank then your signature space get bigger

The signature task is to find and complete it yourself! The rewards given by the signature task are much higher than Twitter's rewards, but its difficulty is also higher than that of Twitter! The higher the account level, the more rewards!

No it is not,  signature may be a compulsory when you are participating in signature bounty campaign. It is needed in signature campaign because this is one of the way to promote or advertise your campaign however you can do this by creating a good quality post here in bitcointalk forum thread. Putting a signature in your profile is not compulsory to earn merits and to rank up unless you are participating in a signature campaign.

I think it's not mandatory to have signature on profile. its totally depend on the preference of individual. according to my opinion signature is not mandatory to upgrade to profile rank but if you want to upgrade your rank you must have keep daily activities according to bitcointalk.org requirements.
