Feature of ICO Ranking on Bitcointalk

Hi,

I have a proposal of adding ICO ranking feature on Bitcointalk. Due to increase in ICO interest a large number of crypto users are hunting for ICOs here n there.
Even through white paper it is not possible for many ppl to judge the ICO and its capability.
Some scam ICOs also get funded due to unauthentic or may be paid rating or may be due to lack of awareness. Bitcointalk is community working to make crypto world scam/spam free.

So can we develop a system where community member can vote for ICOs or any other way. So that ppl can invest in ICO with true rating.

Thank you for the proposal to help eradicate frauds. However, you also stated the flaws in your proposal:
 
1.   White paper it is not possible for many people to judge the ICO and its capability.
2.   ICOs also get funded due to unauthentic or may be paid rating.
3.   Lack of awareness.

Community members do not have more time (giving merit(s) is already time consuming) to investigate every ICOs here. I am sorry but it will not help our community, it will only create more scam/problems (sample vote buying). Their money, their risk, not ours. They need to be more responsible enough with their money.

The connection between bitcointalk and ICO is the Manager.  So it will be more appropriate for bitcointalk to rate managers with providing record of successful campaigns that meet the aspirations of both bounty promoters and investors.

is complicated to ranking a Ico without a life proof of the ico.
May be the Ideia of the manager is better.

Maybe we could simply agree to leave negative trust to the thread opener with the reason why it is supposedly a scam. This would also make high rank and bounty manager do a bit of research before to open a thread for them. Even if the the red trust doesn't get confirmed it's still a valid way of warning.

User ratings are not always 100% accurate. So such a feature can be a negative effect for the reputation of this forum if an ICO rated high turns a scam later on.
This forum should not take responsibility of the projects being carried out anywhere outside it which is not what this forum promises to serve. It would only be logical to clean the forum from them if they are suspicious, but not to rate them high or low by any mean.

First of all, it's Bitcoin forum, why we would need to have ICO rankings here?
Ok, you are offering voting system where members of Bitcointalk would be able to rate ICO's. But it wouldn't be true rating. Now we have so called ICO bumping services, then ICO voting services would appear. ICO's would hire these services to have better rating abd paid shills just would vote for.

What is stopping you - or someone else - from doing this? This is probably something the community is best off organising and I doubt this is something theymos or the forum would endorse because it would likely just lead to problems. People will start investing in ICOs the forum says are ok or legit and then what if they turn out to be a scam? People will blame the forum. I think people should just do their own research on ICOs but I can tell you that the vast majority of them are shady in some capacity or won't turn out to do what they promise or hope.

Outcome: Fail.

No system is going to stop paid reviews and paid bumping, even if you put requirements like merit or rank for those that can leave feedback. Everybody has a price, the scams will still thrive.
And I'm willing to bet that legit ideas that can't afford to pay for ratings will get even less exposure.

The forum's stance is that they don't moderate scams.  Ranking ICO's certainly sounds like moderating scams to me.

Firstly I have one question: If we rank ICOs officially, this means people will choose 1st one of course, so it will worsen job for other icos.
Then it's not a judgement forum to hire lawyers/judges to decide if ICO is scam or not.
Even if we rank and something unexpected happens, everyone will blame this forum. So why to do this? Administration is very liberal, you have your head and brain and are aduly, so decide where to invest and whom to trust.

The easiest way out is rate bounty managers. The forum has notable campaign managers. It is easy to identify campaigns that have been successful through the managers. It is easy to identify managers whose campaigns have not been successful. By successful I mean ending the campaign on record time. Issuing stakes and tokens on record time and listing tokens on exchange also on record time.

There are managers that can be rated with these parameters. Surely, an ICO that passes these stages cannot be termed a scam. What ever happened in the market is out of control of the developer.

I am sure the forum has enough resources to rate managers.

It is the ideal step but very difficult to achieve. Primary goal of every website is to achieve traffic.

More traffic on website means more money. If bitcointalk ban ico postings, users will start posting on medium or any other forum.

Other forum will become hub for ico and alt tokens as well.

Ppl will start moving there and it will become a threat to this forum itself.

After all these ico posts are generating huge traffic for bitcointalk, and for those ico ppl are purchasing copper membership as well.
