You should know about the core team first and patner, so that is like a some reseach first like who profile and an experience in world of IT or business.

If you're objective is profitability then you need to be keenly aware of the market and you're buying in. Influencers are very important in this current market. If you know the project has good influencers then that's a real positive.

Personally I divide it into 3 aspects to build an opinion on a Crypto if I will research it.


A - Authenticity
Check the website, the team and in most cases, check where the team/advisors worked before and do some detective work to find them elsewhere. Check Their ICO rating by ICObench, ICOrating etc...(if they are listed there and if its multiple ratings)
If its a big investment then its worth the research time I find, maybe have a look at the whitepaper. And just try to sniff that company for any "scammy" signals.

B- Profitability
Financials! Look at that Cryptos growth chances and success.  Do they offer a technological solution that is needed? Do they have many competitors? Is it realistic that many other people will want to invest with them also?
In short: Will their product or service explode the market or live in the dark.

C- Community
Take opinions of people you trust have knowledge about that certain Crypto startup into consideration, do not ONLY depend on one or two opinions but rather try to seek many.. It could be through social media like Twitter Crypto top people search Twitter using "$" followed by the short ticker (like $NCASH for instance) and have a look at the general opinion. Youtube where many of the "authentic" reviewers do real opinions on Coins, or someone you know. Put in mind that you should not rely totally on C but have some A and B (they both get easier but repetition)


This is a mix between DYOR and getting a sense from the Crypto community on that certain possible "Gem" that you are considering to invest in or trade for a little.


If you will invest in ICO stage I suggest you double your effort for all 3 steps and be careful, its higher pay (since its cheap obviously) but higher risk...

    The best crypto to invest are those already in the market with higher demand and popularity. Those that has listed in coin market cap. And those already tested and profitable like bitcoin,erhereum,bitcoin cash anf many more. Just choose which you think is best for you and you  can earn profit in investing to it.
