Hi there,

I'm totally new to the whole Bitcoin thing.  Like most, I heard about it, but never gave it another thought, until a week ago or so.  I have a real crappy graphics card and want to upgrade to possibly mine Litecoin and continue to learn about Bitcoin in the process and how it works.

I have a GeForce GT 420 graphics card (nvidia) running on a Gateway DX4850-45c http://support.gateway.com/s/desktop/2011/gateway/dx4850/DX4850sp5.shtml

I know the power supply needs to be upgraded, but beyond that, what else do I need to consider?

Can I run something like this: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/R9/Pages/amd-radeon-hd-r9-series.aspx

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes. The power supply should be fine for one card. It says it's 500W.
