There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I have a 5x 290 rig, and that pulls ~1750W at the wall with 2 80Plus GOLD PSUs. Your 1250 is not cutting it. You need to buy a small secondary PSU, and move at least one of them off to it.
And no, last I checked VBE7, doesn't work on 290 cards. It only works on the 280x, and any Tahiti cards. The 290 and 290x are Hawaii chips.

Got around 730k per card. I think the new R290's do pull more power, so I would have to agree you will need another smaller PSU.

I had stock 290s pulling 260-270 watts on 95-99% load.
Seasonic 1250 can go hold at least 1500 watts.
Adding a secondary PSU wouldnt hurt to spread out one of the cards, no additional motherboard and cpu draw if using a dummY plug for the 24pin atx.
