Why is there so much partying, wining and dining, at Cryptocurrency conferences?

I mean, I've been to conferences and meetings on (non-crypto) themes several times, and they are mostly staid affairs.

But, Crypto meetings are an entirely different beast. Fun and games seem to be the byword at such gatherings. Why is that the case?
