Ive been following bitcoins for a VERY long time, even have a few. But i must say, there are alot of new coins showing up, and its quite confusing, which ones should you mine/buy, which ones will be there in a year or 2, and which ones die out in the time between. today it seems like its an even bigger gamble, than it was when bitcoin came out. Anyone have any take on this?

I doubt most of them will be around in a year or two. The coins serve their purpose as pump and dumps and that's how you make money off them by getting in early and offloading them as soon as you can. If you want to mine, pick a coin that can be traded for BTC and make your money that way.

Alt coins are moving into a new area. There are new comic coins being released now. I think this is a good thing. Niche coins are coin. The potential is huge, and comic coins will play in the media well, and shine a light on the big players.

Possibly. They could also work out like PC operating systems: IE, the first 'big one' is the only one that stays around, regardless of how much technical merit second generations achieve.

Of course, we may have a few winners, but the 99% others will be trash...

And what about DOGE ?! I know the doge meme is adorable and fun. But seriously, dogecoin is just another litecoin clone. Nothing special about it at all.

pump, dump, pump, dump, pump, dump is pretty much all that happens in my view, apart from BTC and LTC which are slightly more stable
