Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Bitcoin.com is a site owned by Roger Ver. He purchased the domain many years ago before it was as valuable as it is today.

Unfortunately many different things have happened over the last few years and Roger has essentially 'gone rogue' against Bitcoin. And he's been using the website as a type of bait-and-switch scam to get people thinking that the 'Bitcoin Cash' altcoin is the 'real' Bitcoin. He literally sells it as that, and it's a blatant scam.

The fact that the domain is run by someone who is anti-Bitcoin is a pretty bad situation for everyone. But there's not much anyone can do except try to warn people.

It's good that you took the time to ask about it. Because I bet 95% of people assume it's legit.

Bitcoin.com is owned by Roger Ver, who was a very early and very important promoter of Bitcoin. He has recently switched to Bitcoin Cash, which is a variation of Bitcoin.

Nobody controls the name "bitcoin", so anyone can use it.

The thing is that he dupes people into signing up with a wallet there and tries to pass off Bitcoin Cash as actual Bitcoin. It's extremely shady. Especially when you are in such a position of power.

Last I heard there's actually a large class action lawsuit being filed against him with hundreds of Bitcoin users upset at what he's doing and are seeking compensation. Whether anything actually comes out of that, I don't know. But it shows how serious people are about trying to stop Roger's attacks and damaging of Bitcoin itself in his latest attempts to enrich himself.

Last I heard, that lawsuit never materialized and the organizer made an easy 0.39 BTC (which he says he'll try to return).

There is bitcoin.com and it doesn't really support bitcoin now as it's shifted and more focused with their own fork altcoin which is bitcoin cash as stated above, owned by Roger Ver.

Don't visit that website and warn your friends who are newbie to bitcoin, it is deceiving the newcomers for telling bitcoin cash is the real bitcoin which is very wrong.

Bitcoin is the only real, genuine bitcoin and there's no any other coin that is real bitcoin.

Let's not forget that Roger Ver is a convicted felon. He was selling explosives on eBay, which wouldn't have been so bad had he not been shipping them via regular post and storing them in his apartment. If he had an accident he would have killed a whole bunch of innocent people, but he doesn't care. Roger Ver doesn't care about anyone but himself.

*sigh*

I actually was really really active in bitcoin.com's forum back in the day, before shit hits the fan and BCH forked. It was a cool and decent forum back in the day. It's really a shame what happened to it, spreading misinformation and such. I'm actually fine of people forking bitcoin, as it is to be expected on a decentralized open source project anyway. But spreading misinformation though? Huge no.

bitcoin.com is a website not an implementation of anything! and just like any other website somebody bought the domain at some point in the past and now owns it. as others already said it belongs to Roger Ver.

they however have wallets (web wallet and if i am not mistaken a mobile one too). these wallets are valid implementation of bitcoin protocol but the problem is that ever since they created bitcoin cash bitcoin.com has been sometimes being naughty and called bitcoin-cash bitcoin! and called bitcoin as bitcoin-core which is confusing and misleading. otherwise as far as "implementation of protocol" goes it is valid.

Well I guess that's not too surprising. That type of stuff happens quite a bit.

Chances people get their money back ar pretty slim I'd say.

Anyway, it's a bit disappointing that it didn't go forward. Maybe someone will try again and do a better job.
