What is bitcoinbounties.org?

http://bitcoinbounties.org is a system where you can submit job requests, get them donated and claim them to get bounties. It currently works in testnet.

What do you want me to do?

I would love the bitcointalk.org users to either use the demo login (demo / demo) or register your account, TEST the service and post me your comments.

I collect e-mails only for notification purposes, no spam will be sent.

Other questions (about registering, service's sources and more explanations) are answered HERE.

Visit http://bitcoinbounties.org!
Demo user data:
login: demo
password: demo

Thanks for your interest and testing. Once you're done, please post here whether you like the system or not (and why!). Any thoughts on it are really welcome! Smiley

I think this is a really cool idea.

I have tried to contribute to people's "bounties" in the past, but I suspect they may have simply been trolls or scams. One regulated place to encourage new programmers would be a godsend.

Hey, since you're so far the only person interested, would you please tell me if you could get involved in the project in any way? Can you do any PHP programming or comment on my code? Or download it, configure and try to run on your server? I'd really be grateful to get any feedback.

Unfortunately, my skills lie elsewhere. Otherwise I'd be glad to help.

Good luck though, my friend. I'll donate to your fund later tonight.

Not yet. Got no hosting with a shell access that could let me run bitcoind. Know of any? I could host it somewhere and connect it to somebody's bitcoind, even on testnet - my script just needs to be able to create addresses, send transactions and check balances (at this point). You could also try to run it on your own box, I'd really appreciate that.

If you have a DSL connection at home you might consider hosting a site from your home to test it out.  you can use no-ip.com to setup a constant dynamic IP address point to it and use a CNAME to redirect it from a real web site name if you have one to your changing dynamic home address example www.multicoin.net.    400    IN    CNAME    surething.no-ip.biz.  as seen with dig @8.8.8.8 www.multicoin.net.  If you need more help on this mater you can ask me direct at my IRC chat I hang out at most the time #multicoin  as nick sacarlson.  Sounds like a good Idea.  I hope I can be of help if you need any.  Good luck and take care.

is a 512MB VPS enough for you to test it/run it?

I can get you one, no problem, just tell me which OS you prefer(i suspect ubuntu) and I'll re-install the OS and give you shell access. Probably gonna take 24hrs or so, not sure if i can re-install the OS without contacting support.

Send me a PM with the specs and I'll take care of it.

I'd prefer Debian. How about moving the rest of the conversation to []? I'll be available tommorow since about 4:00 GMT, I think it'd be a matter of a like 2-3 hours to get it up and running. Keep in mind that the script's probably extremely insecure at this point, I suspect I might have left a few XSS/SQL injection bugs (that's why I wouldn't host it on anything but a VPS myself).

Just send me the ssh host, login and password and I'm on it.
Thanks Smiley

Sure, it can be debian, I'll send you all the versions I can install to your email so you can choose the best one for your needs. I'm just emptying the VPS(still has 5 un-important websites there) and I'll get the OS re-install done and mail you the login.

I'll add you to gtalk. Delete your email from the thread because of the spammers Wink

Okay, waiting for a reply from you.

@all:

Would you prefer the testing system to be in testnet or "real" Bitcoin? I'd love to get some responses.

Umm I would prefer a "proof-of-concept" before my actual bitcoins are trusted to the system.

Even if you just somehow allow unlimited deposits to bounties to prove that the system works, I feel that would be beneficial. I really want this idea to be able to take off.

Well, this system relies on bitcoins being sent - if I (provided that I understood you correctly) hacked it to pretend there is some big amount paid for bounty X, I'd also have to hack up commit voting and payouts to "pretend" aswell. So, the transactions really have to happen. Thus the question, testnet or Bitcoin?

My first attempt was just to see if it worked, and I put a bogus email. So I didn't receive a confirmation link. Lol.

my second attempt didn't work either. I may have screwed up the password when registering (that damn captcha gave me trouble. Hard to read.) so i'm probably locked out of that particular account now.

I'm in class but i'll probably try a third account later.

Other than my login troubles I like the setup and everything. I would be happy to support this.

You might wanna try guerrillamail.com, though then you won't get notifications in the future. Thanks for testing! Smiley
