Hi there -first time poster, long time lurker.

Can anyone tell me why I can buy BTC on mtgox for ~$100 more per coin than on coinbase?  I'm looking to buy some, and it seems like mtgox is a big loss as far as exchange pricing goes.

Mtgox is at a big loss at everything. Can't believe it's still in business.

will generally be closer to the real price = bitstamp, btc-e, etc

mt gox is inflated because they have many, many problems including inability to pay people their money

Thanks, so I'm *not* missing some important difference between them besides suckyness.  That is good to know.

Mt Gox still has usefulness.  Let's just say I want them to keep trading at a premium for a while.  But yes, if you're just looking for an exchange, Coinbase and Bitstamp are better bets.
